mods Allan olivia , Tyler Propps , Curtis Allen
Factories Joe "I'm not too old to win" Buntin !! Shawn Jorski , Johnny Reed , Johnathon jarvis
dont know about the others ....
The car count was great about 20 factories and close to the same for the mods and mini's . Track was a little rough , but what can you expect for all of the rain we have had .Mark made an effort to smooth the track during an intermission that helped out a lot ..
for those that missed it there was very good racing in the features that was one of the funnest factory stock features I have ever raced in ..
Special thanks goes out to Mark Brill and all of his staff for takin the gamble to let us race on sunday , I think it turned out well great job Mark !!
winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

I am not surprised by the rough track as that is expected with all the rain and the clay he added to the track. You can ask sozo, there was a late model race - I think at Lake Ozark - Sunday night and they tried to race and I read where it tore alot of the late models to heck. In fact, they got over way late too from what I read.
Yes, congrats to Mark for giving all of you drivers a place to race and fans something to watch. Remember, you can't help what mother nature deals ya.

We stayed for the whole show... it got chilly after the sun went down but we brought coats and it wasn't too bad. The factory stock was one of the best races we'd seen in a long time. We left about 9:30 but considering the break to fix the track and all the classes that ran it was still a good time. The track and new wall look great.

I agree on lasting way to long , need a time management course on starting on time and finishing in a 3 to 3 1/2 hr. window.

Hey you have a right to say it is for safety concerns and hey that is OK, but his track has always been rough, has yet to figure out how to keep it from getting rough since he bought it in 05 and everytime I have been there or raced there it has been rough and he has always had to bring out the Grader half way through the races and smooth out the ruts. Even after a 100 degree day with no rain in the previous week and with only about 25 cars in 4 classes still had to bring out the Grader last year and reblade the race track. Was at Grayson Co. Speedway 2 weeks ago and when we had all that rain and they got a good amount of rain too and had around a 100 cars in the pits and racetrack was smooth and dryslick, they just packed it all day and did not add much water to it , still racy and had a good show and no stoppages for race track prep. So it can be done.
You come there with a race car and you enjoy the extra time (I guess) tuning on the car and you have something to occupy your time and you want the safest track for you car to run on and I can see that , but sit over in the stands and well it is just a little different , watching a grader blade the track is just not a fan's greatest viewing enjoyment and without those money paying fans you cannot keep a track in operation forever, When people start gettin up and leaving and they don't come back to watch again and no money is made by the promoter means no race track and you just might get to love every minute of the racing by yourself.

Well we all have a right to voice our opinions, I agree the track was rough due to the rain, but everyone needs to remember the track has all new dirt added to it again and it takes time and alot of work to get the racing surface compacted, it will only get better in time Mark and crew bust their butt's each week to try to make a good racing surface and they will continue to do so untill that goal is accomplished, I would much rather wait on the grader at intermision than have a very rough track and and cause a safety issue for racers, so just be patient and in due time the track will be a good smooth surface it takes time as we all know, Last year was new dirt and it was rough at first but after the middle of the year it turned into a pretty good racing surface, so keep that in mind and let Mark & crew work untill they get the track all worked out. just my .02

Correct on the voicing of the opinions.
I ran there last year in August several times with my sprint car it was still rough then and that was way after mid season, first thing I heard from a couple of drivers getting out of there cars saying that was a rough race track, I am sure Brill & Co. bust there butts on the track , Hey I see the improvements in the facility ,but maybe it's time to hire someone with track prep knowledge and help speed up the process of getting and keeping a good race track and help prevent what he has to do night in and night out halfway though each race night with his grader, then they can concentrate on running a timely show so the fans will keep coming back and the crowd will grow. That's all I am saying.

Lanny starts at 7:30 and is usually over with by 10 or 10:30. That is 2 and a half hours to 3 hours with as many as 100 cars. Lanny also doesn't run 4 car heats. I also seen where it would take 3 laps just to get the green. I hope Brill Motor Speedway makes it as it gives racers a place to race on Saturday night but I seen alot of people leave before the features. I agree with sprint JD if I was on the pit side the wait wouldn't matter because I would have the car to work on, but when you are on the spectator side it gets too long

Hey not going to get into a pissin match here on opinions , everyone is got one and that is what make the world go round, but hey been doing this a long time and have been at tracks until the dam wee hours of the morning stayed at Lake Country back in 98 and we started the Sprint A at 3am finished at 3:40 with 3 dam people in the stands this was when I had Tommy Holder running my sprint car tht was the latest A main ever started and I have gutted it out on many occassions till 1 or 2 am watching races and wondering what the hell am I doing here so such is not the case on leaving early , been to too dam many races from the NCRA Super Mod days in the 70's to the Champ Dirt days to the Super Mods again in the 80's to the Sprint Cars of the 90's and today, seen it evolve over and over and , so pretty versed on the late nights of dirt track racing and one thing I observed over the years is if no people in the stands ,no money is made , no race track, take a look at Mr. Edwards and see his shows run and he has learned in his 40 plus years of promoting that you get em in get em out and count your money which he does every Friday and Saturday at his racing facilities and gets crowds other promoters only wish in this area they could pull , as for leaving an OU game up 50 to 0 , hell I am watching till the very end and rubbin it in to all who we are beating the hell of , now if it's the other way around I am out to work on the car or occupy my time in some other way , Don't like to watch Humiliation,LOL , big OU fan , Hell i work for OU , so that's not holding water. Not going to beat this up anymore , you got your opinions and I have mine but just felt the need to defend my stance on leaving races early and so on.

Well I think everyone has had some very great points of view and Im glad that you guys are willing to chat about it. Yes the show lasted a little long and yes the track was rough as crap but i think that for the most part the majority of the people had a good time and the drivers had a good time and no one got seriously injured and that is all that one can ask for. I am sorry that the track was rough and that is to be expected and the shows will get shorter. just bare with us and we will do all in our power to make you guys happy. This is not Lanny Edwards Co. This is Mark Brill and he hears most of the comments and complaints. He will do his best to make things better. So thank you for comming out and supporting and or racing. and please dont give up on us. we will get it right. Thank you.

Some things to consider, ESPECIALLY if you were NOT there.
1. 60 some cars and drivers to register, for the first time, not a feat that can be accomplished in a few minutes, and a mile of paper work that has to be done by hand.
2. A multi car sprint car pile up that took quite some time to clean up.
3. A track owner who IS a driver, and always seems to consider the needs of the driver 1st. Sure Mark COULD have left the track rutted up, and ran the features, then all we'd be hearing is how rough the track was and how nothing was done to improve it.
4. Intermission that went a little long due to some new promotions for the younger fans.
As with most things armchair quarterbacking is easy, actually suiting up and being in the game is not. In hindsight some of the heats SHOULD have been combined, and things could have gone smoother A-Z, but for an opening night, with all the resources stretched to their limits, I thought it was a pretty good show, and one of the best factory stock races I've had the pleasure of calling in the time I've been doing it.
Keep coming back, things will get better, not perfect, but better. There will ALWAYS be things to criticise, so come look for the mess-ups!!!

Like I stated, I figured there would be some hickups as there was at all the tracks that got to race this past weekend thanks to the rain. And I feel Mark learned somethings from last year and I truely believe this year will be a great year there. First races of the season at any track always get off to a rocky start but always will smooth out. Again I feel it will be a really good year at Meeker.
And to JD and JD and everybody else, thank you for keeping it a conversation and opinion piece and not slamming each other with your posts. I just ask not to judge on one night of racing, at Meeker or any place else for that matter.

Just want to say we enjoyed the racing Sunday, even tho it was rough. Just read comments on another board that stated Creek, MAS, and Outlaw also experienced rough tracks so we can't blame Mark for not having a perfect track. I, too, applaud Mark for all his hard work, that is dedication!!
It certainly was different for us being spectators as opposed to being drivers....we weren't nearly as tired when the night was over!!!
The length of the program did not bother us as we visited with some very nice folks from Ada whose son was racing, I know we will meet new friends every week.
Hang in there Race Fans...it will get better

Well in my opinion i think the races were awesome, never seen a show like that at the Fair grounds. Brill does a good job and i think that he deserves credit for what he does. Like any business it takes work and time to make everything PERFECT so give the guy a break. Be patient. Things will get better and if your in it for the fun you will stick with Brill. People get wrapped up in the money and the time too much and never just sit back relax and enjoy the show. Fans are there for a good show and thats exactly what that was Sunday night. Whether it lasted 3 hours or 10 and whether the track was rough or not. Brill made things safe for the races and did his best to keep the fans entertained. I have gone every weekend and i plan to keep going. This is MY opinion and as you are i am entitled to it.

1.Races were not started till after 4:30 and were advertised to start at 4.
2.The 60 plus cars to register ,racetracks all across this state deal with this every year at the start of the season and with more than 60 or so cars and it can be done to were it could not delay the start time of the races.Just takes organization and a plan.
3. Again get help from someone with track prep experience and no blading the track during an intermission which again has been at every show I have been to there racing or watching and it will prevent the rough racetrack from the start.
4. Cmon, Intermission went long because of the blading not because of the young fan that got a ride in the car.
5. No ones asking for perfection , hell it's not a perfect world and playing in the game is not easy as you stated but you know The Coach , The Quarterback and the team have a game plan and carry it out otherwise you don't win the game.
Again , No fans in the stands , No money in the bank or promoters pocket , eventually no racetrack.
It's a pretty simple equation in the world of dirt racing , I hope Brill makes it .
