5. Stan Atherton (Bromme #3)

PURSE: $10,590

Lealand McSpadden roared to his seventh feature win (3rd in a row at Ascot) aboard the Frank Lewis #1. McSpadden used lapped traffic to take the lead on the 24th lap from front row starter Bubby Jones. Jones piloted the Gardner #96 to second while Mike Sweeney took 3rd aboard the Morales #4.

The win was McSpadden's 32nd lifetime CRA main event triumph.

Bob Meli flipped his #78 for his third straight outing. Fortunately, Meli was not injured but the car took another beating against the Ascot 1st turn wall. Because of a wet/heavy track, only six drivers qualified in the 19's.
