Just finished up watching this 'fine' piece of film work.
Produced and shown much as a grade 'B' 1960's drive in movie films. (Remember that 'classic' 60's Russ Meyer film ...Motorpsycho ??)
Hopefully no decision makers for advertisers considering sprint cars for sponsorship watched this contrived piece of garbage.
Nice ...real nice .... makes you 'mortified' fans really proud.

I watched and thought it was good....I know this is a sprint car site and anything "mortified" is gonna get bashed, but I thought it was a neat show and I'll watch it each week..Take the cameras into the infield at Williams Grove or Knoxville and your gonna see the same "redneck" screaming and arguing...

I didn't bash the racing ...I bashed the way the drivers and their wives/g.f's were portrayed.
I called them 'mortifieds' because as an advocate of 'dirt is for racing ..pavement is for getting there' it was just a horribly contrived show. It portrayed the drivers, their pit crew and families in a a way that non racing fans will ridicule and perpetuate the myth of 'Goober' goes dirt track racin'
As a fan of dirt track racing I was mortified by the way these race teams were portrayed.
I have been around sprint cars for many years and yeah ...there are some arguments and disagreements, but that isn't ANYTHING CLOSE to a typical night in the Knoxville pit and grandstands. (the 'Grove' ?? ....wouldn't have a clue ...but I'll bet it isn't anything like that show portrayed either.)
The 'plot' and it's premise SUCKED.... the racing part was fine (I am just glad I didn't have to pay to see it....nor would I have.)

Agreed also azteca....
Should make the door slammer crowd real proud.
But the flip side........Door slammers got the TV time and the sprint cars didn't. Is there a message there?

Openwheel, maybe it's because the only drama in sprint car racing is on the track, not a bunch of rednecks fighting in the pits and stands.

Hawker & Openwheel:
As they say at my work ...the Osky drivers (weekly) would rather 'fight than fornicate' (fornicate was substituted for the word they really use ...as this is a family forum... but I think you get my drift.)
It would be cheaper to get a MMA license and buy their required protective gear than to drive a door slammer at Osky ... you'll have the same 'feeling' at the end of the night ....... either way.

I have seen a few good mod races on dirt in my day.
As to DISCOVERY, I am enjoying their new program, AMERICAN COWBOY. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
