6/18/10.

As if local tracks aren’t hurting enough, overnight thieves broke into the racetrack and ripped out a vast amount of copper wiring in the underground electrical system and lighting system at Cowtown Speedway.

Tom, Bo, Kay, amongst others; have spent the day figuring out all what was damaged, getting replacement parts, making repairs and filing police reports.

They have every intent on not letting these criminals get the best of them and races are still on schedule for Saturday night.

There is a reward posted for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the damage and theft.

If you have any information about this crime, please contact the Kennedale Police Department at (817) 478-5416.

Apparently some vandalism occurred at KSP overnight too, but the extent of the damage and theft there is not exactly known at this point. I’m sure they will report on the situation there when available.

Now, more than ever, please support your local tracks that give both fans and race teams a venue to be a part of the greatest sport in the country, auto racing.
-----------------------

And on a personal note, I hope the people responsible for this crime trip on all of the wire they stole and strangle themselves.

The Cowtown staff was able to get all repairs fixed and and broken items replaced and the races are on as scheduled for tonight.

THANK YOU to all that helped get this mess fixed so the show can go on.

Here is more information on tonight's big events:

THIS SATURDAY, June 19th, is the Cowtown Challenge for the Winged 600's on the 'big track' with the feature winner taking home well over $1,000 (complete event details on the track website)...but as importantly for two lucky fans, they will WIN the right to jump in Cowtown-prepared demo derby cars if their winning race program number is drawn!

Race programs will be on sale at their regular price of $3 and will give fans the opportunity of winning the right to compete in the demo derby on June 19. Note that drivers must be at least 18 years of age to compete. The demo cars and helmets will be provided. Fans must sign a release form in order to compete.

Joining the A-class Winged 600 Cowtown Challenge and Demo Derby will be the Cowtown Modifieds, Performance Transmissions raceTX.com Limited Modifieds and Bombers. The restricted division 600's will race on the Action Track, as will all of their regular and post-season events.

Adult ticket prices for this double-header special event will remain at $12 for ages 12 and up. Ages 3-5 are $2, while ages 6-11 are $5. Tickets are available online at http://www.CowtownSpeedway.com at no additional charge and can be purchased by cash at the ticket gate on race night. Hot laps are at 6:30pm with racing at 7. Pit passes are $25 and A-class Winged 600's must bring at least $100 in sponsorship money that goes directly into their Cowtown Challenge purse or must pay a $50 entry fee. It is expected that the Cowtown Challenge bonus money will grow to well over $1,000, making it a possible to win $2,000 or more.
