It's exactly a year on since we lost Brian Healy RIP who thankfully changed the Australian Sprintcar landscape for the better when he brought 410's and The WOO to Parramatta. He inspired an average weekly car count at TPCR unparallelled anywhere in the world. The 410 car count has averaged between 50-55 for the last 5 seasons and has more than paid it's own way in terms of it's own prize money and it's benefit to the track. I wonder what will happen now with the new owners, all four of them and their new initiatives. Brian's initiatives at TPCR have seen the rest of sprintcar racing Australia wide thrive as a result, I wish we could get him back.
How do you take the best car count in the world and screw it up?
Answer: Only another season will tell !
In my opinion, if it aint broke don't fix it, but the new owners apparently think much differently. They came in straight away, took away qualifying, juiced the track up until you can't race on it and put a nomination fee in place to embattle all the competitors. Now they are removing the club volunteers who have done a great job managing the racing for 30 years and will now remove any payout from 10th place in the A-main on back through the B and the C main and even at times a weekly D main.
OH YER, I forgot then they some how decide that it's in the best interests of the track to leave out our version of the WOO, World Series Sprintcars. So what is often considered the best racing track in Australia won't see all the best competitors in the one place at the one time. What a shame, it's an absolute disgrace, it would be like saying Knoxville or The Grove won't be having a WOO race.
