Sixteen-year-old Zach Zimmerly opened Western Speedweek with his first ever Golden State Challenge Series victory at the Tribute to GP in Chico. Was an awesome race and he passed some really good cars for the win, including the winning move by Brent Kaeding with just under10-laps remaining. Amazing show by Zach and the crowd loved it. Real cool way to open the swing.

Top 5 in main event:

1. Zach Zimmerly
2. Brent Kaeding
3. Jonathan Allard
4. Sean Becker
5. Jason York

I think that makes three years in a row a sixteen year old has won their

first golden state a main. Zach has to be the youngest having just turned

sixteen (I believe Ballou was the youngest). Is there a 15 year old in the

stands whose going to win one next year?

What a drive for Zach last night! On a track that was absolute solid for racing! By the way Zach sounds like JA when he talks.

Congratulations Zach! What a privilege it must be to drive for Duke and Scotty. Those guys have been winning races and building champions for decades. Sounds like Zach is on his way. Good luck at Skagit!
