I don't recall this location being a hotbed for 410 racing.

Will they have enough 410's for a complete field or will it consist of some area 360's?

thanx

Will be some 360's and some 305's probably. Not many if any 410's in the area but no different than some of the other places they race.

i think last year they had 17 360's and 17 410's.....

if thats the case again this year - they should just run their own classes. run 2 heats and an A.

But I'm sure the WoO are more than ok with running with a field full of 360's while losing nothing in their purse. I mean - think about it - I bet they like their purse a lot more when in Dodge City than say.........Williams Grove? (where they get their asses handed to em lol). They are all about getting as many advantages over local fields as possible. Just doesn't work for them so well in PA wink

The best sprint race this year in Kansas already happened......... Steve King Memorial at Jetmore.......close to 90 sprint cars between 2 classes (ASCS, URSS).

wink

they will be hard pressed to have 17 360's this year to add since the NCRA and ASCS are both racing this weekend in the midwest

If they are racing at Eagle it "appears" they will not unload their equipment.

Weather "Dud" is saying a 60% chance of heavy thunderstorms there tomorrow. Frown

The NCRA races you are referring to are taking place right there at Dodge City. They are racing 2 programs of sprint cars there - WoO and NCRA. I would imagine this will take away from the field fillers for the WoO since both series run different wings and different rear tires, so I doubt any of the 360 guys that usually run NCRA will be able to run both classes unless they have 2 complete cars to bring to the track.

Actually, the promoter just announced that he was dropping the 360's as a stand alone division so they could race WITH the WoO. It was announced that this way they could race for more money, but it looks to the trained eye that he's trying to fill a 24 car A main field...CZ

Hey oklahoma, it takes 90 of those ascs racers to equal the caliber of 16 world of outlaws.

There is a reason why they are called the world of outlaws. 16 of there cars would put on more of a show than 90 cars.

You were talking about how good the 360s are, if they are so good why arnt they running 410's?

Mr/Mrs. or what ever gender or disposition you are dana 19, have you seen an ASCS National tour show? The car counts have averaged over 50 cars this year so far for ASCS tour events. At any given event there are at least 10 to 15 strong contenders to win a said event. The event that OKC is speaking of at Jetmore was probably one of the most competitive events anywhere so far this year. I was there, and it was simply awesome.

As to your reference to 16 cars with the outlaws would put one a better show than 90 cars for ASCS or any other organization, I concur, I have seen a 16 car outlaw race, it was a snooze, and I have seen a 16 car ASCS event(CREEK CO.SPEEDWAY 1999) an it was f**king amazing.

I am with Rush and OKC on this one, ASCS is a better show and ya have to really race to get into the A main, ask Gary Wright about a week ago at Little Rock, failed to qualify for the A and he has beat those WoO guys before and dana19 , I bet if you forked up some loot to fund some of those 410 motors I am sure some of those 360 ASCS folks would gladly bolt it into their car.

Guys not to be a spoiler but how come no ASCS guys have not trampled the WOO guys when they put in their 410's?? The only ASCS guys that can run with them consistently is now Tony Bruce and Garry Lee Maier who is here with his 410 ready to win.

The best thing about it is there is best of the best here in Dodge City tonite and no rain n the forecast.

Hell yah there are Sprint Car races going on in Nebraska with Tony Bruces race up there. Sprint Car fans win win in the midwest on wild weekend to watch em so get off your computer and go to the races!

In Dodge we also have 305 NesQuick Non Winged Sprint cars each night as well.

Sprint Cars Races, nothing to divide anyone or any group - more of a celebration they are not going away!

Here we are not getting along again, and eating our own. No one can doubt that the WoO is a collection of drivers at the top of the sport. It is the series that the majority of sprint car drivers aspire to (ask Paul McMahan and Sammy Swindell). You can also ask most of the ASCS guys where they want to be headed. I have, and most talk about the draw ruining their night before it starts half of the time with ASCS.

The ASCS has some great racing too, but I've never seen seen 90 cars run a feature. Don't most fans go for the feature? What are we talking about here? The ASCS includes Hall of Fame drivers as well, and some top notch racing. The event at Eagle should be 'off the hook' exciting. I know Tony Bruce will work hard to make it entertaining. The banked 1/3 mile will be a showcase for some great drivers...and as for great runs by the ASCS against 410s...you need look no further than recent years at the Nationals with Shane Stewart, Jason Johnson and Gary Wright.

The WoO has had some great races at Dodge City. You will get to see the best in the business there this weekend. Hopefully, they are both very successful and avoid Ma Nature! Tony, I think when we have the next drought in Iowa, you can come promote an event for some farmers I know...that should take care of it...

I can appreciate the politics and promotion thrown out by both sides in this thread, but it gets tiresome and pretty darn ignorant IMO...

Mr.Beckley , I think your leaving a few guys out of the ASCS that could and have competed consistently with WoO, Jason Johnson , Wayne Johnson, Danny Wood, and like you said Tony Bruce Jr. would put them on the list of consistency before Garry Lee though.

Bill W. I am sure the WoO put on a great show and get around the race track the fastest and sure ASCS guys want to be a WoO
driver, it is where the Tony Stewarts and Kasey Kahnes and other big name sponsors are and the $$$ is I am not doubting that , all I am saying is that when you have say 22 WoO cars and 6 360's to make a show for the WoO , the only drama is what 360 will be lucky enough to make the show , but with ASCS and 50 cars in the pit area and you said fans go to see the A feature, well with ASCS you race your way into the A main and also need luck as well with the draw not once but twice if your up in the passing pts. , I agree the draw can hurt you or it can help you as well ,have seen it go both ways and isn't that what the majority of it is in this sport LUCK?, that saying rather be lucky than good anyday.

To each is his own in what he wants to spend his $$ on to watch, I agree with you in that I hope ALL Sprint Car Series survive these tough times as well as race tracks.

i have a question. if the 360's run different wings and tires, and will have to join the woo to participate, how much will that affect the 360's from running? if they don't have the same wings, that pretty much prevents them from running. if they have a wing that they can run, will they be willing to spend the extra money on tires that they may have left over that they can't use? now if you buy four RR tires over the two days, you might wear them out. but what about the LR tires you don't wear out? just wondering.

i saw a 10 kart go kart race in 1982 that was freaking amazing as well. so WTF is your point? you can find some races that are amazing no matter how many cars and you can put 30 cars on a half mile and sleep through it. 1999 LMFAO

As usual per this board we have post after post of speculation about a certain event and then zero posts about what actually happened. GREAT race at Dodge City tonight. Sammy and Saldana put on a great show. (Full field too)

Slammin' Sammy Swindell whooped um!

Swindell Slices to Win at Dodge City: Scores First World of Outlaws Victory Since 2006 in Opener of Boot Hill Showdown
Posted Friday, Jun 11, 2010

Dodge City, KS — Sammy Swindell remembers his first trip to Dodge City Raceway Park in 2004 very vividly. After crossing the line first, he came up two pounds light at the scales after running out of the fuel, thus snatching the victory away from him. He returned to the track for the first time since then last year, picking up a couple of Top-10 finishes as he continued his quest to pick up that elusive win at Dodge City. He was finally able to score that victory on Friday night in thrilling fashion over Joey Saldana before a very larger crowd as Boot Hill Casino & Resort Presented the opener of the Boot Hill Showdown.

Swindell made up a lot of ground on Saldana in lapped traffic late in the going and was able to dive under him coming off turns three and four on the 28th lap to take the lead. Saldana fought back on the next lap and charged back by Swindell on the high side of turn two, with Swindell again powering off the low side of turn four to be officially scored the leader at the stripe. He ran a smooth line on the last lap to pull away by about a half-second to score his first World of Outlaws win of the season aboard the Big Game Treestands Maxim and his first triumph with the series since 2006.

“We’ve been close in a lot of them this year, so it’s good to finally pick one up,” said Swindell “We definitely had the best car tonight and just had to bide our time. I got a little backed up at the start and had a few guys run into some water down there and I got myself behind some of the lapped cars at the wrong time, but we were still able to run them down pretty easy. I just didn’t want to run out of time and almost did. I guess you could say I played it perfect, but it was a little bit close.”

Swindell started fifth and fell back to seventh early the race before steadily working his way back to the front in lapped traffic. He got around Donny Schatz on the sixth lap to move back into the Top-Five. He worked on Jason Sides for a couple of lap before taking the fourth spot from him. Kerry Madsen was next on the horizon and Swindell passed him on the 13th circuit for third and found himself in second just two laps later charging past Paul McMahan, before setting his sights on Saldana.

“I was killing guys on the bottom in (turns) three and four and Joey (Saldana) couldn’t stick down there,” noted Swindell. “I don’t think he ever for sure saw the line I was running, and he ran up in there too hard and slid across and I knew if I hit my marks I would go by easy. I had to make the last lap and run well in the line where I wanted to be and I knew there wasn’t anybody as quick.”

Swindell entered this weekend with four Top-Five finishes with the World of Outlaws in 2010 including a podium run last weekend at Knoxville Raceway. He joined the Big Game Motorsports team earlier in the year when Terry McCarl was injured and had been knocking on the door to scoring his first series win of the season.

“We’ve been close,” shared Swindell. “Last year I don’t think we had everything we needed at the right time. Now we have a good car and a good crew and things are going well. They are giving me what I need and it shows. If they give me what I need, we’re going to have a quick car.”

The race began on Friday night with Paul McMahan leading from the pole, with the caution flag waving for a first lap spin by Steve Kinser, leading to a complete restart. On the second start McMahan again charged to the lead in turn one with Joey Saldana quickly coming from sixth to fourth on the opening lap and moving into second by the fourth go-around. Saldana took the lead from his teammate on the sixth lap charging around the high side of turn two.

Saldana, who led 23 laps, wound up second in the Budweiser Maxim to earn his series leading 17th Top-Five finish of the season. He extended his lead in the series standing to 30 markers over Jason Meyers he chases his first title. Saldana began the night by turning the fastest lap in time trials.

“You just have to be perfect,” noted Saldana after the race. “We had a good car and got to the lead from sixth. You just have to do everything right and not make a mistake. We had a car good enough to win and made a mistake with a lapped car and lost the race. These races are tough and everyone is extremely fast and if you make even a little mistake they capitalize on it.”

Jason Sides came home third on Friday night to earn his 10th Top-Five finish of the season aboard the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. Sides fell back to fifth in the middle part of the race and got around Paul McMahan for fourth with eight laps to go and then got around Kerry Madsen for the final podium spot just a lap later.

“The car was a little free at the start, but came on really good late in the race,” said Sides. “We sure can’t complain with a third-place finish. It’s another strong run for us and we had a good car at the end tonight.”

Madsen, who started on the front row, came home fourth in the Halls Haulage KPC to earn his second Top-Five finish of the season with the World of Outlaws as he continues to mesh with the Hall Motorsport team, which has him reunited with veteran crew chief Sonny Kratzer, with whom he had a couple of World of Outlaws wins with, in the past.

“We had a pretty good race car,” said Madsen. “I don’t think we had anything for the leaders, but it was a good run. I’m pretty happy to bring it home in the Top-Five. That was the goal and we’ll come back tomorrow night and try again.”

Jason Meyers came from 11th to finish fifth in the GLR Investments KPC, with Sam Hafertepe Jr. in sixth in the G.H. Plumbing Maxim. Donny Schatz wound up seventh in the Armor All J&J.

Steve Kinser rebounded from a first lap spin to charge through the field to come home eighth in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim, without a single caution the rest of the way, as the 30-lapper went green-to-checker in just under 10 minutes following the caution on the initial start.

Jac Haudenschild was ninth piloting the Owens-Corning Fiberglass XXX, with Paul McMahan, who led the first five laps, rounding out the Top-10 in the Great Clips Maxim.

The World of Outlaws wrap up their stay in Dodge City on Saturday, June 12 as Boot Hill Casino & Resort Presents the finale of the Boot Hill Showdown.

BOOT HILL SHOWDOWN NIGHT #1 NOTES
