Hey everyone,

Right now the crew is working on the track and we shuld be able to get the event in tonight. It will be late, but I think were good. The rain has moved through and other than its a little wet, the sun is out and things are coming along. We will be on Dirtvision and on the Knoxville Raceway webcast once things get going.

If anything changes, I'll post it here and let you know!

All good things,

Tony

dang, time to find out how Knoxville wants to handle a ticket that says no refund....all shows will be run. Since they aren't going to run it, it appears a refund is in order.

WoO/Knoxville are dumber than a box of rocks. You have a 3 day event set up well actually 2 nights cause Friday was stupid. I wish they still came here 2 times a year for 2 nights both times. I mean its the sprint car capital of the world and you hardly ever race there come on. I mean there is a 0% chance of ran tomorrow and you cant push it back 1 night they rescheduled haubstadt and postponed Charlotte. But you cant do it for the sprint car capital of the world. Plus the old fart Ralph Capitani needs to get up to date or retire. My last thing Knoxville maybe you'll get a little more people to come if u lower ur ticket prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When will they make drains on the inside of the track. The way they've built the inside berm, there is no way for it to drain.

You guys need to quit yurbitchin...

ethel, They said they are giving refunds...You can send in for it or use the ticket at any future race. We go weekly so we'll just use one ticket to get two regular night tickets.

Tex if you think it's such a joke DON'T GO!

stefani0068, I believe Husets has a race scheduled for Sunday so i'm sure that would be one reason among others. Ticke prices are more than they used to be but so is everything else.

Check the price of a two hour concert these day....$60 on up and they used to be $10. I remember going to races at the Iowa State fairgrounds twenty five years ago and tickets were $8 so Knoxvilles prices are inline with what you get for your money.

Truth Detector, I'm not 100% sure but I think there is a drain at each end of the track but you can't have drains on a dirt track for obvious reasons. The issue wasn't there anyway it was water running on the track from the top and the fact that they couldn't get the infield dry enough to be able to push off cars.

Sorry you are unhappy with the way things turned out tonight, but Mr Capitani has more common sense at his age than you will ever have. I'm proud to work for him and would have like to have seen a good race tonight myself.

I hear ya there, Tex. if the locals are required to run with WoO for the points race, then I would have liked to see Kville pay the membership fees.

I wasn't listening to the broadcast and hadn't went to the track yet, so I didn't hear they were going to give refunds. That's a good thing to do.

Have to agree with putting drains down by the berms. Where the heck else is the water going to go? sheesh

Pretty crappy situation, track looked great for the most part but there were some iffy parts. Really unsure why they don't run it tomorrow.

Also, didn't it rain more on Wednesday of the Nationals last year? If I remember right, it rained for maybe 45 minutes at about 7:30 or a little after and they had it worked back in by 10:30 or so. Considering it was done raining tonight (and it only rained hard for what, five minutes?) at 6:45ish, not sure why they couldn't get it in good condition.

Not too happy but understand that you can't control Mother Nature. Sucks as this was probably the only shot I'd get at seeing the WoO this year.

there is a big cattle show on the grounds tomorrow so they couldnt run it then. leave it to the fair board members to schedule a cattle show on a potential rain date. if you think knoxville didnt try everything they could to get in the show in your crazy.

if you happen to travel to ANY other WoO show, youll know the ticket prices dont get any cheaper than $30, and you won't get near the full field, often poor track conditions, door banger filler classes, and youll leave the track feeling you need to head straight for the showers. What better are you going to do with that $30 then see the best sprint car teams in the country?

The reason I'm mostly upset is because they only had one night of points racing. And they only come here to the SPRINT CAR CAPITAL OF THE WORLD once a year when they go to Williams Grove 2 to 3 tomes a year and go to Eldora 3 to 4 tI'mes. All im saying is they should atleast reschedule it. And in the future have them come twice a year for 2 night shows!!!

LOL to all of you. I have been crying for years about the lack of WoO shows at Knoxville and had my head ripped off. The complaint was always that the track doesnt make money except for the saturday night show well now you have probably lost a bundle.

More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Why is this a surprise? This was discussed on several boards, including here, back in February....

The WoO rule book clearly states that you MUST be a member in order to race with the WoO. So teams racing with the WoO should not be surprised....

Obviously you haven't taken the time to walk around the track from the pit area. I'm not in there every week, but I know there is one on the front stretch close to the flag stand, one off of turn 2, one off of turn 4, and I think there is one off of turn 3.

I am not buying all the raceways reasoning. They have fixed worse tracks in the past. They have a road grader, 30+ push trucks and over 100 cars in the infield and you are trying to tell me you can't run a track in. Have the grader scrape the infield. Tell all the drivers if they want to race they have to help prepare the track. You get over 100 cars rolling around the track you can run in about anything. Plus everybody and their dog knew it was going to rain a little in the evening, why didn't they prepare for it a little. I think the leadership of Knoxville is riding on tradition and have gotten very very lazy. Fans and drivers from all over the country show up to watch a great race at a great facility only to see the leaders just give up and drive across town to go to bed.I think is a disgrace.

Lets see...They hold a race and make a profit...They bust ass trying to get the track ready but it's just not going to happen so they cancel and lose money. Yeah, I'm sure they just couldn't wait to cancel and throw money down the drain.

I know nothing about prepping a dirt track, but I called the track at 11 am and was told they have been watering the track all morning and were planning on racing. It rained in the morning and it was extremely obvious that more rain was on the way in the evening so y dump a ton of water on the track, makes absolutely no sense

Obviously, you didn't read my post above concerning this. To earn points in our local points race (which doesn't have a thing to do with WoO), a driver must run with them when they are here in town. Hence, drivers were required to pay an extra $125 to buy their own points. If it weren't for Knoxville's point fund money, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of drivers skipped the WoO show. Most just don't have the motors, etc. to competitively run with them
