I tune in and hope to hear Johnny and all you hear is some guy screaming over the mic. He is trying, but is no Johnny Gibson. When the A-Main came I thought Johnny would be the announcer, but all he really did was a little of the introduction and the 4 wide. This other guy has to go. He was terrible. At first I thought Bobby Gerould but even he is a lot better than the guy they had last night. Sure hope Johnny is on the mic tonight.

Obviously you have never been to the Knoxville Nationals, because if you have then you should of recognised who that was. Justin Zoch. He happens to be a great knowledgeable announcer. I really don't no what race you were watching because from my computer desk he wasn't screaming. Most of the distinguished tracks in the country have their play by play guy announce along-side Johnny Gibson....Like here in California at the Gold Cup they have a gentlemen who's name i'm drawing a blank to does the announcing with Johnny Gibson and then in Tulare at the WoO races and in the past Trophy Cup as well it was Bobby Gerould and Johnny. Just thought i'd let you in on that small tid-bit.
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

Justin Zoch quit 2 years ago it Tony Bokhoven that was announcing and hes a lot better than Williams Grove announcer... plus if Johnny Gibson wasn't WoO announcer i think he would be.

Bruce Ellis.....haha. Not gonna say anything.
Johnny's the best in the business, by far. But I like the Knoxville announcer too, he doesn't bother me.

Sorry I forgot Zoch doesn't call races on a weekly basis there anymore. I thought though that he still works the Nationals or am i mistaken. I guess i'll findout when i get there this year. Good racing tonight though.....good win for Haud and nice to see Brown and Walker on the podium.
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

Hi moparfarmer. You really should get down to Knoxville one of these days....LOL....I think you'd be very impressed. The announcers I've had the pleasure of listening to during the past 15 Knoxville Nationals I've attended were all very good, some of the best in the business.... They all have their own style, are very knowledgeable, and know their stuff. Its one of the few racetracks where multiple announcers and pit reporters all work together as a cohesive group. Knoxville's sound system is so good, that the audio is distinguishable while the cars are actually racing.
See you at RCS in 2 weeks

Bokhoven is like fingernails on a chalkboard. He should take Jack Miller's (The greatest announcer to ever sit behind a microphone) advise.

Bokhoven does just fine. He can be a little excitable at times, but is very knowledgeable and keeps up with the racing very well. The guy seems to be good enough to get on TV. I've seen him on ESPN as a pit reporter for NHRA drag races.

I attended both the Nationals and the Gold Cup last year. Was disappointed to not hear JG over the PA even once. I think it speaks volumes of his character to allow the local annoucers on DirtVision with him without reciprocity. With the possible exception of Justin Zoch, he's got it all over anybody else in the business today.
NASCAR - Mike Helton clones
WoO - losing it's wasy

Dennis Gage was the Gold Cup announcer. Troy Hennig, Silver Dollar's weekly announcer called the Gold Cup in 2009 after Dennis retired. Trophy Cup announcers were Bobby Gerould and Troy Hennig.

Wow, you people love to take shots at anyone and everyone on here. Tony and Blake do a good job at Knoxville. If anyone here thinks they can do better, send in your audition tapes.
There's a reason I don't read this msg board like I used to. It's full of this sort of crap.
