OCRS SPRINTS JUMP INTO MAS PIT SATURDAY NIGHT

By John Lemon

Tulsa, Oklahoma (May 24, 2010) - The first summer holiday of the summer racing season is upon us and this Saturday night, the sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series will jump into the "MAS PIT" of the 3/10 mile oval at Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville Oklahoma for a Memorial Day holiday special event.

This holiday racing extravaganza will be just the first of five stops that the OCRS warriors will be "MAS PIT" jumping in 2010. After a successful first time visit to the Humboldt Speedway last Friday night, the OCRS sprinters make their fifth stop of the season at the "MAS PIT". There have been zero repeat winners of the first four events. Tulsa's Mike Goodman took the opener at the Outlaw Motor Speedway on April 16th then the "Flying Farmer", Rafe Essary of Stillwell took round two at the Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma on May 1st. Defending OCRS champion and current points leader Jamie Passmore of Rose Oklahoma, bagged his first win of 2010 the following week at the corral of the Wild West Speedway in Clinton. At Humboldt last week, Moore's Whit Gastineau made his haul worthwhile by taking the checkers in front of a packed grandstand.

Will the "MAS PIT" produce the fifth straight winner? Several challengers expect to do just that. Broken Arrow's Travis Jenkins sits third in points and many feel he is just a fraction away of collecting his first win of the year. Tim Kent of Bristow is off to his best start ever sitting right behind Jenkins and a win for this dedicated racer would be a surprise to none. Leading the 2010 OCRS "Rookie of the Year" challenge is Inola Oklahoma's Terry Easum. This young racer has shown the vets that he can run with the best of them and he also wouldn't surprise anyone if he wound up taking "MAS PIT" promoter Kenney Garriss' championship hardware home. Then there is the "Dollar" team of Danny Smith and Kyle Clark of Sand Springs. Smith was the runner up in OCRS points last season and has had two podium finishes thus far this season (Outlaw and Humboldt). Clark won the first A-Feature of his young career in weekly action at Creek County Speedway last Saturday and would like nothing more to show his OCRS peers that he can do the same at the "MAS PIT".

For this Memorial Day summer holiday, to honor our hero's and comrades for their invaluable services to our country, Mid-America Speedway will allow anyone that presents a Military ID or a VA Card FREE grandstand admission for a night of great racing entertainment.

Mid-America Speedway is located just 2 miles south of the Oklahoma / Kansas state line. Take road EW-02 west ½ mile and you will find the track on the south side of the road. There is plenty of free parking for your convenience.
