Highlights from Saturday Night's WoO show from I-96 Speedway are posted on my Youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/hvista#p/u
A couple of notes:
Not much talk on here, but like them or not, the double-file restarts are very exciting. Maybe it's the narrow frontstretch at I-96, but every restart was like a re-start of the race. I give them thumbs up.
Strange delay occured when a bird (or bat) flew into a lightpost near turn 1, causing sparks and blowing a fuse to a couple of light poles causing a lengthy delay before the feature.
Joey Saldana smashed the track record in quals, posting the first 14 second lap in track history. Also the track widened out nicely for the Feature and there was alot of passing throughout the field. Fairly long night, but not a bad night either.

I thought it was a good night as well except for the delay. The feature was exciting and good job to the locals that went there.

Many thanks! Great work! Nice racey fast track with a Mopar faster than anyone ever?
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

It sounded like it was a good race. A bunch of teams coming back after spins and flat tires for top-10s. I think this year has been pretty entertaining in general including the drivers battling for 6th through 11th in points. A couple bad races and Dude drops all the way from 6th to 11th in a little over a week...WOW!
I agree that the double-file restarts are good. Even though many opposed to the DFR on the Grove Board, claiming it would just result in unneeded torn-up equipment, there were ZERO incidents in two nights of WoO action that probably included about 15 total restarts. I think that the DFR would go a long way in neutralizing the antiquated handicapping system in place at Williams Grove.

Oh,,and I think the double file restarts are horrible for the racer... 2nd 3rd and 4th are at the mercy of the leader and others farther back start racing way before the leader actually starts the race,, maybe its just me..
