Johnny needs to mix it up some. He is awsome but everynite sounds the same. Also, a Speedway Engines Mopar powered Maxim gets Joey to victory lane not the number nine. Shocks, engine builder and type, where the car is from, crew chief etc is almost never mentioned. I know sponsors are critical but nothing but the Armor All 15 gets old. I know its getting to be just another spec series but we need to remember there might be a few car guys left in the stands.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

You gotta remember Johnny is calling the races for the fans in the stands not for live radio. In most cases this is the only time fans hear him all year. I think he does a great job. Yeah, it is repetitive if you listen to dirtvision all the time but we should be glad they even put it online.

Johnny Gibson is the BEST, period. He does all his stuff from memory and not from a piece of paper or computer read out. Its all from his memory.

I agree, Johnny is the best. He has a knack of getting all of the sponsers mentioned on the interduction. I don't have a problem with that. With no mention of their product whether it be an engine or a paint job, they pull the purse strings closed. Those guys pay the bills so they can run up and down the road.

Thanks for the suggestions. The reason I don't mention engine builders specifically is because many of the teams have a couple (if not more) brands in the trailer, and I've been burned in the past by mentioning the one they weren't running at the time. (Sometimes they even swap brands during the course of the night.) The teams that want specific manufacturers announced will have me read them along with the other sponsors when I do the introductions.

Again, thanks for the suggestions--and compliments. Much appreciated.

i think johnny on dirtvision is great!! i have pretty much gave up on nascar to listen to the world of outlaws on dirtvision.com. Haven't figured out how to use it on my Blackberry yet, but Twitter helps with that!! The only thing that i would like to see is better twitter coverage, but i no everyone is busy at the track!!!

Replace him with Justin Zoch and be done with it!

Knoxville should be kissing his ass and get him back.

Simply the best!

As a side note, about 6 or 7 years ago we had a little get together after the friday races in Fargo. The hotel parking lot was jammed and we raced with Johnny and other outlaws with drink coolers. He is a great guy and real easy to talk to. His head isn't swelled up like some other announcers are. He is approachable.

Nobody will EVER top Jack Miller. There is a big difference in being spoon fed everything and talking to the fans like your a fan. Leave the hype at home and let the racing speak for itself.

Canucklehead, my son and his friends have thirty some tickets and Rick asked if I wanted to go on the Friday night. He may have to come back to Winnipeg for a hockey tournament he is coaching in. I will be there if I can. Top row just to the left of the booth.......That night in Fargo is one of the best in my lifetime. Its one I won't forget.

On the last post I made to Canucklehead. If I go, I will be wearing my black Travis Rutz shirt that I got from Mickala Gammel. Hope other people bought them to help in Travis' cause.......

Did you at one time work at Winnipeg Speedway??? I believe its your son/friends that I am more aquainted with. I have bumped into them at several shows in the past few years.

Yea,I was the pit steward when the track opened until Pete sold it. Was flagman and announcer when they took holidays or missed races. Lived at the speedway. Monday night and when not working on Tuesday days, was track preparation for Tuesday nights races. Did a lot of work there and enjoyed every minute of it. Sure miss it.

I think I was 6 or 7 when the track first opened. Pretty much hooked after my dad took me the first time. The 70's and 80's were the glory days. Names like Don Mack, Ken Chapman, Donnie Spieker, Lou Kennedy Sr. Ernie Brookins, Jack McDonald, Bobby Sagen, Rick Auckland, all used to put on a great show up here for the fans. The WoO even ran here. Unfortunately the racing in Winnipeg has pretty much gone downhill since then. I've only attended the odd time over the last few years. I like to travel to RCS, Fargo, Cedar Lake etc..... I go to Knoxville every August, and some of the other bigger LM and Sprintcar shows down south. I'll keep an eye out for ya at RCS next month.

Ernie Brookins and I are good friends. Those guys you mentioned were friends of mine when I worked at the race track. When I got married we never missed a race on Friday nights at West Fargo(1972-1974) Hope to see you in Grand Forks next month.......FARMER(my sons called Farmer too, but I'am the original) LOL
