YOU'RE FIRED!!!!

LOL. all dirt track racing has rained out down here in Sooner Country - so just watched game 7 between Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins. Bruins had a 3-0 series lead. Flyers fight back to force a game 7 - Boston was up 3-0 in the 1st period!!! and somehow managed to blow it.

In thinkin about it just now - the NHL playoffs have been 10x better than the NBA Playoffs. The second round of the NBA playoff featured 3 sweeps in 4 mathcups - and the Celtics/Cavs series each game was never really close (both teams received worst home playoff losses in that series lol). The NHL on the other hand. WOW! Montreal somehow managed to take down the fightin' Ovechkin's and the fightin' Crosby's. they have had several 7 game series in the first 2 NHL rounds as well.

Anyhow - classic game. Classic ending too - never heard such booing in my life (bostonians booing their own team) and when the game was over - all those thousands of yellow towels - including just about every other loose object fans had - all came reigning down on the ice. Humiliating way to lose a series for Boston. wouldn't be the least bit suprised if that coach is FIRED.

every now and then I hear a few of you easterners talk hockey on here.......and with all the racing here washed out......I figured what the hell......wink

I'd bet they would rather have "Little Joe" over "Big Joe" if they were looking for results.

Although "Big Joe" has helped his big game "choke" status a bit this last series.

Seriously, you are going to try and compare the NHL playoffs the NBA playoffs? LOL you gotta be kidding.

No contest. Your assessment is dead on OKC.

I think it may be the Sharks time.

Even if Chicago makes the finals they won't win. They now have Hossa on their squad, and as good a player as he can be, every team he joins a team they lose in the finals. (Pittsburg in '08 beaten by Detroit and Detroit in '09 beaten by Pittsburg) Now the Blackhawks have saddled themselves to him for many years.

I only hope the ritual continues. wink

Boston did hit the post twice in 3rd period. Then a too many men on the ice penalty lead

to Flyers game winner. Sometimes the Hockey God's are not with you. Go Sharks!

LMAO. thats hilarious lol.

I watched some of the San Jose vs. Vancouver series - Vancouver was a really good team. San Jose looks pretty good. Another thing about hockey - I dont watch it very often, but if I can catch a game from the beginning I really like it. I played indoor soccer for a couple decades and that sport is more like hockey than it is soccer. Obviously not in form, but both have a keeper and 5 field players and the blue line situation is the exact same - as well as playing it off the boards a lot. the schemes are very comparable. A team I was on got the bright idea to run our squad like a hockey team and instead of players subbing out every 8-10 minutes exhausted........we ran it like the "lines" in hockey. We played 2 25 minute halves instead of 3 60 minute periods but the result was shocking. There were leagues ranging from A through J and we were in D, then C (twice), then B........and the end result was we went undefeated for 4 seasons - even in our championship games - a couple times we played teams that were clearly more talented than we were - but as you could imagine - our organization was vastly superior and we had much fresher legs down the stretch - especially in the last 10 minutes. The only thing that stopped our team was the summer. summer time down here all the mexicans stop playing indoor and start their outdoor mexican leagues (big deal down here - in soccer circles anyway lol). And it was all mexican except for me and my brother and my best friend - who was slightly mexican but mostly italian lol.

Anyway. using hockey strategy with our blitzkrieg style substitutions and even forfeiting the occasional possession to get the subs done - was very intrical and fun. most teams never knew what hit them. 98% of indoor isnt played with much team strategy at all, if any.

Anyhow, I'll watch the NBA playoffs in hopes that the semi's are better than the quarter's. the east final should be a good one. hope Phoenix beats the monopoly team (lakers). But I do look forwarf to watching the remainder of the hockey playoffs as well. And cant help but like the Flyers - very historic and gutsy what they just pulled off they didnt even make the playoffs til the last game of the year!. same with montreal - 2 big upsets. their 3-1 series comeback against Washington was amazing in its own right. you dont see 8 seeds come back from 3-1 hardly at all. you have to win 3 in a row and 2 of them are on the other teams home ice. great stuff. and the games have been so hard fought. unlike the NBA where the play is often extremely laxadaisical (sp?). sorry for ranting. good stuff. now time to read bout racin' Smile

btw - I am very impressed with Versus coverage of the NHL playoffs. ESPN could have cared less about televising it - opting instead ot have constant shows about utter bullshit like a ticking "where is lebron gonna go" clock. just f*ckin useless. tired of all their speculation specials - not just lebron and nba - but with football, especially baseball, tiger woods, etc. I mean - its good they have these shows - but geez they go far with it. It's like SPEED channel. i wont even watch that horse shit. its supposed to be a channel for racing and they rarely show any - instead showing bs that basically amounts to redneck reality shows. But anyways - its good of Versus to try to do this and not let an exciting (to varying degrees for most) sport fall by the wayside just because ESPN chooses not to showcase exciting, packed house, high energy games. espn plays ratings instead of creating them. dirty bastards. Oh well I'm sure if Adam James was a hockey player they would be daddy and his employers would be ALL ABOUT IT!!! LOL couldnt help it! Of course - I am also partial to Versus (as most of us are or at least SHOULD be) - cool of them to enter into a second year of consistently showing some sprint car racin! hope they continue it and even step it up and build on it. maybe they could get in on some big specials in the future like Chili Bowl, Gold Cup - and quite honestly - the WoO events in Posse Land. PA is the one place where more than 1 or 2 locals really are a huge threat - if not damn favorites - over the the WoO. think what you want of WG - I get it. but it would be nice to watch a WoO race where the outcome is at least SOMEWHAT in doubt wink

Time to slap Campbell around the rink abit. Sharks in 5 Campbell -6 +/-. Head to Head, I would take Boyle anytime over Big Joe's buddy.

Central PA/Harrisburg is pretty much the dividing line in PA for sports loyalty. Anything to the west is definitely Pittsburgh sports country and anything to the east is definitely Philly sports country. Central PA has a lot of fans of both the Philly and Pittsburgh teams. Actually, central PA is Penn St. country more than anything because of where the school is located and the history of the football program.

The Flyers were actually robbed of a goal in the 2nd period. Rask' pad was well behind the line when the puck bounced off it, as seen in the replay but (not so)instant replay got wrong just like they do half the time in the NFL too. I like the idea of instant replay in sports but if you're still gonna get it wrong after looking at replays for several minutes then why bother stopping the game.

oh hey I can attempt to weigh in on this one! hehe

I must respectfully disagree. Hey I wanted nothing more than to see a Flyers goal there - wanted to see a good game - but......I didnt see anything about it that looked like the puck was completely in the goal. and they said thats how they define it. Yes, Rask's pad was in the goal - but from that point on the puck was traveling at a completely parallel angle to the goal line - and damn skippy - it was right on it - but never cleared it completely. guess bottom line for all is that for that split second there - couldn't see the puck at all. but once it came into view it was moving completely parallel to the line - not forward or backward - so that kind of implied it was never really in. thats what I thought - and what the review as well.

Glad that call didnt end up really changing the outcome of the game. I hate it when that happens - then you just get a whole slew of homers who excuse the rest of the game because of something like that - and of course they have a point but at the same time.........just great to see games won or lost by the players not by the refs. i thought the refs called a great game - seemed very fair. a lot of times in other sports - ESPECIALLY COLLEGE FOOTBALL and PRO BASKETBALL - you these completely blown calls - even on replay they still get it wrong and its just hard not to think something is up no matter who you root for. look forward to the start of semi's Smile
