Cowtown Racing 5/15, USMTS Portion Moved To Later Date

Kennedale TX (5/14/10) by DarinShort.com. Unpredictable and constantly changing weather forecasts are forcing the USMTS Modified portion of this weekend’s Cowtown Speedway program will be moved to a later date. Details on the rescheduled portion will be published when they become available.

With the high cost of travel for the 30+ teams pulling 800 and more miles to Cowtown Speedway for Saturday night’s USMTS series race, track and series officials – as well as several series drivers – feel it is just too risky with the sketchy weather forecast predicted for the entire weekend.

In its place, Cowtown Speedway will host a $1,000 to win Cowtown Modified special, along with the regularly scheduled classes for May 15 instead. With this plan, if weather does come into effect, the teams participating will be from this region and will be spared the travel expense as they will not have to leave for the track until Saturday afternoon, and by then, the weather should be known.

Fans that have purchased tickets in advance will have their tickets refunded today. New online tickets for the Saturday show are available online at the track website and have reverted back to ‘weekly’ pricing of $12 for adults.

We regret that the weather has forced this postponement, but with diesel at $3.00 a gallon, we don’t feel that the potential risk of a weather-forced cancellation justifies the costs the traveling teams will incur to get here. A similar forecast is predicted for Sunday’s event at Waco, which is also postponed to a later date.

And don’t forget, on the following Saturday, May 22nd will be the return of the NCRA Modified Series at Cowtown. More information on that event will be published after we get through this weekend.

Fast Facts for the revised May 15th racing program at Cowtown Speedway:

-In addition to a full racing program of Cowtown Modifieds on May 15, the LSDCC.com Dwarf Cars, Performance Transmissions raceTX.com Limited Modifieds, Cowtown Bombers and Winged 600’s will round out the racing action.

-Spectator Grandstands open at 5pm; adult tickets are $12, with kids 6-11 $5, ages 3-5 $2. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the track website at no additional cost. Reserved-seat tickets are available for $15 adults and $7 for ages 11 and under.

-Pit gates open at 5pm, pit entrance is $25. As with all scheduled $1,000/win Cowtown Modified specials, there is a $50 entry fee for the modifieds (modifieds only).

-Hot laps are at 6:30pm and the first race starts at 7pm.

- Visit www.CowtownSpeedway.com for directions, online tickets sales or more event information. Check the track website on race day for further event updates.

This Saturday May 15th, although the weather has thrown a curve ball on the much anticipated USMTS modified event, don’t miss out on another family affordable event when the $1,000 to win Cowtown Modifieds highlight the action at the Fastest Lil’ Dirt Track in Texas – Cowtown Speedway!

Is the USMTS portion actually going to be made up this year? They said that last year and it never happened.

Last year a viable replacement date never became available, this year there's already a date that's being worked out which will have a pretty solid promotion to tie with it...stay tuned, should be finalized soon.
