In addition to providing live coverage of the May 28 race at Charlotte, SPEED is involved in talks to televise additional sprint car races in 2010, including several high-profile World of Outlaws events and The Knoxville Nationals. Some will be live, some will be tape-delayed.

any sprint racing that we can get on tv is for the better if you ask me. while it is cool for us sprint car fans to have live events on tv, i really don't care if we get live or tape as long as the sport can put in front of people. the open wheel wednesdays and thursday night thunder shows were great till nascar sucked all the oxygen out of the room.
to indy and beyond!!

I agree. Tape delayed would be fine. Heck look at NHRA, just about every race they run is shown on a tape delay( granted same day coverage) but it works for them and their sponsors so why can't it work for Sprint Cars?

Yeah I definitely agree with the same day tape, I'm relatively new to the sport. After looking at some old YouTube videos, it's kinda sad to see that they used to air races on ESPN and other networks often....

There was Nothing as good as THURSDAY NIGHT THUNDER on Espn. Enjoyed Bob Jenkins and Larry Nueber as the announcers as well. They helped make Jeff Gordon a household name and future superstar. TNN with Steve Evans was great too with their coverage of the Outlaws.

It didn't seem very difficult for Outdoor channel to show the Outlaws season, most of it, a few years ago on a tape delayed basis. With some of the bigger names that are now involved in the sport as much as they are, Kahne and Stewart, you would think that showing sprint cars can't be any more difficult or less popular now than it was just a couple years ago. Someone needs to just do it right and you could get a decent following. Consistency is the key to anything.

Found some info, but it's confusing. Looks like something is going on but according to the TV schedule through hoseheads it says "Late Models" from Charlotte, but pretty sure Late Models aren't racing on May 28th in Charlotte

And then on SPEED's home website TV schedule for the 8pm (May 28th) spot, it says World of Outlaws, Late models at Charlotte as well, but it has a picture of a Sprint Car, HA

As far as the NHRA tape delay goes.. there races are much earlier in the day and to tape delay for later in the afternoon works for them... But with sprint cars.. they race pretty much in PRIMETIME hours so to tape delay the sameday wouldnt work.. but then again F1 does it live.. but the are more global.. I have to admit I have been up watching practice, qualifing, and the race early enough the rooster told me to shut up!!!

Any coverage would be great. In the 80's the WoO rolled through Texas & Oklahoma twice a year. Now we get them once a year and its painful not to see them very much anymore. Tape delay is fine with me even if you know the results before you see it. I love the inside stories/interviews etc as much as the racing.
