Personally, when I get paid again on Friday, May 14th, I am sending $20 to do my part and ask all you tidbiters to do the same.

As you may have read on a thread below, Gene Cantrell of Elk City was seriously injured in a modified crash at Elk Citys Speedway saturday night. They are very concerned with one of his arms and are also talking about having to do skin graphs if they can save his arm. He also has a broken arm and other serious injuries. He will be in the hospital until who knows when.

Gene is a self employed trucker and his wife works with the school system. However, the hospital bills will be enourmous during this time.

I ask that all of you please help and donate what you can and also send cards of cheer and get well wishes. Below is the information that will get what you send to him.

Thank you tidbiters very much, I know you will do your part to help out a fellow racer in need.

Jeremy, thank you so much for the update. Got this from Lorne at Racer Supply so you might let him know to change his records of address.

Please update us when you can on how your dad is progressing. The racing community will be praying for him a speedy recovery.

Yep, on my list of "things to do" as they were one of the first I thought of. Thank you though very much and hope your doing well. Miss seeing you all at the track (as I am there and you all are somewhere else).

I just stumbled across this post. I hope this driver regains his health and he and his family can resume their normal lives again.

I raced sprint cars for about 16-17 years. I have been in bad crashes and seen a lot of bad crashes. I am not a gore monger, but think that something can be learned from every crash.

I realize roll cages can come down and tubing can break. Was this one of those deals? In another post it said maybe he had sinus fractures.

Yes he has sinus fractures to go along with a broken left jaw bone, broken left upper arm, and torn ligaments between C1 and C2 vertabrae. He is doing good. Still not awake and alert although his eyes are open quite a bit. We are on day 11 in ICU. His arm is really doing well and should be skin grafted this week. He also has his jaw wired shut and has been fitted with a Halo to help heal the ligament damage in his neck. He is a very lucky man. From all indications he took a good ride off the back straight probably a good ramp and numerous rolls after that. Thanks to all who have been so thoughtful and keeping him in your prayers. Keep sending them up!
