I'm kinda wondering the same thing. In past years I have camped at the North Camp ground and walked. This year we are staying in Altoona and will drive in every day....wondering if anyone knows how to rent a spot in someones yard or is Hyvee an option.

We've always paid $20 to park for the week at the church right next to the bowling alley on the north end of town.

It's not as far as it seems (probably 5-8 minutes from the track) and if you're staying north of Knoxville and need to get out on 14, it makes it much easier.

I've never paid for parking, but I've only been to the Nationals since 1978. If you can hoof it three or four blocks, you should find a spot...

The Parking at HyVee is run by a local Boy Scout Troop. There is always someone there by early afternoon. Also down the street by Pizza Hut there is parking provided there by The Lions Club (I think that's who does it. We have parked there before.) It's the old Pamida parking lot some of the drivers use that lot too for the rigs.

The Armory is right across the street also + you can take a shower there or at the community center, Don't remember directions to that right off hand.

The best parking deal at the Nationals is at Celebrate church across from turns 1 and 2.They have reserved spots for the week. They give you a number and you can come and go as you please. Most places make you pay every time you come back. The church is as close to the middle of the action as you can possibly get. They have great food and that is where Schatz and Kinser trailers are at. I would highly recommend it. You can get in contact with them at 641-828-7603. They even have a few RV spots with power.
