They need to enforce the 33 gallon tank this year or make all the races be shorter so they can run with out a fuel stop...i mean come on a 10 year old can run the WoO lately.

Maybe they should make a rule that a Woo official must check every car before the A main starts to make sure the tanks are filled to the top. That would be one way to make sure they are full. Just a thought

Or they could force them to use bigger tanks by just doing away with fuel stops. I agree, tonight stoping for fuel after about 13 or 14 laps. If the drivers and crew chiefs new they would't be able to refuel, you would see the larger tanks show up for anything over a 25 lap race. Just my 2 cents worth.

Simple Rule. If you have to leave the track you are done for that event.

U can't institute a rule like that in the middle of the season (bigger tanks), but, if the WoO cares about the future of the sport, they have to do something about it for next year..either change the motor rules...which they SHOULD..or go to bigger tanks...if they don't change the motor rules, I'm not sure they can institute a big enough tank, cus going to the 33 gallon aint gonna be big enough for the fuel these motors are sucking.......I think it is amazingly ironic that everyone is freaking out about the fuel stop PLANNED at the Nationals this year, yet we are getting an "unplanned" fuel stop at nearly every Outlaw race.........

Bigger tanks aren't going to help the problem of not filling the tank, which is what is causing alot of this. Just tell 'em NO FUEL STOPS(.) . If they all start runnin' out because of excessive caution laps then the last car runnin' wins. sheesh.
At their current rate, they'll need 2 or 3 stops at the nationals this year.

Maybe someone could invent an in-motion fueling device like the Air Force uses on long range aircraft...

I'm just going to throw this out there and say, how about we have push trucks ready and when you start running out of fuel come in and fill up green, yellow, or red it doesn't matter as long as it's not slowing the show down. I think this could bring some possible strategy in effect at the nationals also.

would the CCs even PERMIT a full tank to meet a minimum weigh before pushing off - rather than AFTER the races?
the way it is going in that series - they might consider banning CCs next as that would certainly lower costs at the same time taking away ALL the DECISIONS and "put the driver back into the equation" more than any of these half measures / tire ponzi schemes that are currently infecting the fan experience.

A long time ago, maybe early 70's, they used to run 100 laps at Manzanita with pit stops using the small track. Those were some real shows. These were night time races over the 4th of July.

Fuel stops are always going to be, but they should be just that. One guy, a funnel and a fuel jug. No work on the car.

per the rule book looks like the 33 gallon tanks will be back next year.
2010 Rule Book States:
Rule 15.D) Starting with the 2011 race season all Platinum Teams racing full-time with the WoO Sprint Car Series will be required to run a 33 gallon fuel tank and bladder. At all 2011 WoO Sprint Series Events 33 gallons of fuel will be considered as part of the formula utilized when determining the total number of laps prior to refueling in any specified and/or announced event.

We ran a 50 lapper at Tpcr on Sat night, its a 470 meter track or about 3/8 mile clay ciccuit, there were several stoppages and a red light stoppage at about 30 laps in for a roll over, they used this time to let us refuel and do tyre pressures only with two crew members allowed on the track, this can be done in 5 minutes but it took a little longer to clear the wreckage so there was no problems anyway.
As a matter of interest we have a 100 litre tank (22 gal) and we used 100 liters of fuel to run the 50 laps.
