My new t-shirt reads "I was there the day history was made, Eldora 4-2-10, the worst prepared track ever!" What a joke the entire weekend was! I have been going to Eldora for twenty five years, never again. I have been going to sprint car races for fifty years and seen hundreds of races at dozens of tracks. I've seen plenty of dry dusty tracks but Eldora set a new low Friday. This has been problem there for years. You would think after fifty years they could get it right but I guess not. After a long winter and adding new dirt and SAW DUST??? you can't wait till race day to prepare the track. They should have been watering and packing it for two weeks. And by the way, saw dust won't pack. Then to to top it off they cancel Saturday's show because of rain? Rain is exactly what was needed on the track. Anyone with an ounce of brains knows they cancelled it because they still couldn't get the track in shape. About six inches of rain over a weeks time would help the track. We are witnessing the death of Eldora, I say good. Every person that was there should get a free pass to every race there this year, but then many like myself still will never go again.

I've participated as a driver and as a spectator; I hate dust...
With that said, comments like, "we are witnessing the death of Eldora, I say good", are ridiculous. Seriously...... "I say good"?????? That's like me saying I hope your motorcycle tips over in the parking lot.

I don't know.......maybe the guy has a point. Maybe, if he pisses and moans enough, and tells everybody he can, just how bad it was, they'll all stay away as well. Eventually, the track will close, and he'll be able to boast to his friends that he was the one who closed down Eldora because it wasn't perfect. For folks that like the sound of their own voice, that would seem like a mighty honor in itself! Heck, he could even have a T-shirt printed up!
The other alternative might be to send a letter or e-mail to the track management expressing his disappointment. He could explain why he was disappointed, and how it might affect his future attendance, should the problem not be corrected. (Just in case they didn't happen to read his T-shirt.)

Earl certainly caught a lot of flack for his track conditions, but it seems like EVERY season the opener is a crappy track...is it any worse than in years past?

I have been going to Eldora for 27 years...hell even been to Ascot, Syracuse, Manzanita, Devil's Bowl, Volusia, East Bay, Williams Grove, and many others...I am college educated and own a business so I have a decent opinion I feel...I have never ever witnessed anything like this and we (Tommy Bahama) were in the pits...I won't go back this year just to show my disgust in how bad this track was prepared for a major event...just my opinion...I think Tony wants to put on the best show of course, however someone has to be responsible ultimately for that debacle last weekend...
