Folks, I just finished typing a nasty mailing to both Eldora speedway and Tony's website. The more we just bitch and moan about it, the more it's going to happen. So get those fingers atyping and let them know how you feel. Gas, travel, hotels and food-for what???? Friday was totally preventable. The top man should bear the brunt of this "decison". Ever since my first Kings Royal after the takeover, things have been steadily declining. I've also told him that he was seen as the saviour of this track, once he bought it> Ya right-jusyt get it over with and pave it, and bring nascrap to the once shrine of dirtracks.

Wasn't there but have read a lot of comments.
I think the only way you can really get their attention is by staying away.
Once enough fans do this a promoter/owner will start to "wonder" what is wrong.
Good for you for letting them know your feelings.

You have a perfect right to air your feelings to the management. But I have a feeling that they already know how serious this is.

OW has a great point hidden in there. You voice your displeasure by NOT GOING.
Why would you need to point out that you're unhappy about the races that didn't happen last weekend? Do they not know?
The income loss and general embarassment whacked them upside the head already. They lost customers that won't be as quick to return for future races.
Voicing your opinion is a 1st amendment right... and if it makes you feel better... do it.
I know I've left races furious as I could be... and didn't go back to that track for years. Family members said they wouldn't go back (and they haven't to this day). The ultimate payback is not supporting the track if you're a vendetta/grudge kinda fan.
Hit 'em where it hurts... their pocketbook. Not their email inbox IMO (which counts no more or less than anyone else's).

the problem with just not going and not supporting a track may have an alternate effect. the track just might close. do we really want more tracks to close? even if they do things that we don't like? telling them you want to support them and that you want to go there, but not if they continue the way they are might be the way to go. jmo.
to indy and beyond!!

I was disapointed to read that there were issues with the racing surface already....there have been plenty of topics on the situation, and nearly everyone seems to be in agreement. Several people have said that they should stay away and punish the track and hit them where it hurts.....thats fine but everyone knows that the show will go on and in the end you will be looking for instant results and wondering how the racing is going. My feeling is that any day at the track is better that sitting at home or working.....whether the racing is good or bad. Just my opinion.
P.S. I'm looking forward to the KR

I remember fondly (or not) the 2006 or 2007 Kings Royal where the racing started at 630pm and ended about 230am with no rain delay, just endless delays trying to rework the track so tire wear wouldn't be an issue. Sad to see they haven't gotten their act together.

buzz, I think long before a promoter and/or owner "closed shop" he would figure out what his problem is because of fewer people showing up.

I for one, will not go back in the near future. You can say sitting at a track is better then working. I disagree. If I want to sit and watch farm machinery and heavy equipment out on the track I will go sit by the nearest farm field being worked or the nearest road construction site to watch heavy equipment. In addition, I will save money on gas, food and admission. Plus, I will see the same amount of action.
I hadn't been at Eldora in over a year and a half because of the same crap, I am glad to see it hasn't changed for the better or even stayed the same.

Maybe Grader racing is the way to go.

I think your on to something here: Monster Trucks, Tractor Pulls and Grader racing. Just fill up the seats once in a while by bring in some NASCAR drivers to play in the dirt. Eldora has 18 race weekends on the schedule this year, 19 if you count the Prelude on a Wednesday. Of those 19 only 8 include visits by some kind of sprint cars. No more Allstars and the Kings Royal is just a shell (as far as the racing) of what it used to be, now basically a 2 day WoO weekend. I could go on and on, but long story short, sprint car racing fans do not seem to be a priority for Eldora Speedway.
