I cannot believe that west coast sprinters organization took second place away from Danny Faria, Jr for having a 98 D12 on the left rear. It is sad that YOU " WCS" USAC officials have not done your homework. If you look on the HOOSIERTIRE website, a D12 is the same compound as a RC1. You cannot buy a RC1 98 ANYWHERE! They only sell D12 or SC12 compounds for a 98 tire. So as far as I am concerned Faria should get his well deserved 2nd place finish and points and money back!! Chris I know you will make this right for him and his team. Because all I see happening is this great thing you put together starting to fall apart,!! The bad thing is the pionts race between Stidam, and Faria would be even closer had he not been the brunt of the rules you guys wrote in wrong at the race in Bakerfield last week!! So check it out and make some phone calls and you will see . Just go on Hoosiertires.com. As a fan and fellow car owner I know it will get better.

regardless of what compounds they make in a 98 the rules for the wc360 series clearly state rc1 only 4 lr tire if that means 96 is the biggest tire they make in rc1 then sounds 2 me that is what your limited 2 . rc3 is what the rr is so because it only 101 inches around would make it ok to go find a different compound tire 2 roll out bigger

We bought two new 98 left rears for the Calistoga USAC race last year and only used one. I just took a look in the trailer and it's a D12, so if USAC has changed the rules I'm gonna be pissed.

Calistoga was a 410 event. Not 360. Not quoting USAC, but you should be OK in 410's with the D12.

Perhaps everyone racing this series should review the rules ...so where are they?

I can see both sides of this one. The rules are the rules and the WS360 guys have to enforce them as written. If they had allowed it to slide, then all the other teams have a beef. Whether the rule is right or wrong is irrelevent, that was the rule in effect at the time of the race and you have to enforce it. On the other hand, Popeye is right about there not being an RC1 left rear bigger than 96 although not entirely correct about the tires being the same. I'm not sure about the D12 having the exact same compound as the RC1 but I know for sure the construction is a lot different.
This is the kind of stuff that will come up in a first year series. I'm sure they'll get it corrected but there is no way they should return points or money. The tire wasn't legal in the rules and everyone else managed to get by using the correct tires. If you're not sure if something is legal or not, a winning strategy isn't to try it and then argue it afterwards.
The 410 series does allow the D12 98 & 100 tires.

Here is the rule straight from the rule book,
The right rear tire must be a Hoosier RC 3, 102x16x15 or a Hoosier- VRA stamped, 102.0/16.0-15. The left rear tire must be a Hoosier RC 1. Both front tires must be Hoosier sprint car tires with the compound optional. Tires may have optional width and height, except for right rear.
Therefore like it or not, the correct call was made.

John we have had the rules since they were first posted back in god knows when although there have been revisions the tire rule has stayed the same danny is a great competitor and to become that one needs to become well informed of the rules which im pretty sure he was and he just tried to push the rules like any good racer does the fact of the mater is that rc1 and rc3 only if they open the rule up it will make things bad for everyone its the same with the mufflers JMO see yall in tulare
