FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

POMBO WINS AT BAKERSFIELD, STIDHAM TAKES POINT LEAD TO TULARE SATURDAY
By Lance Jennings

SANTA MARIA, CA – MARCH 29, 2010… Kerman's Davey Pombo scored his first win of the season with the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series at the Bakersfield Speedway last Saturday night. Driving Junior Bowman's Buster & Ziggy sponsored #3 Bullet, Pombo finished ahead of Bakersfield's Rusty Carlile, Fresno's Craig Stidham, Mariposa's Andy Ferris, and Jonathan Logan of Hanford.

Stidham now enjoys a 28-point advantage over Tipton's "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr., who experienced some bad luck at the Bakersfield oval. Faria had an eighteenth place finish and will be looking for a Tulare victory this Saturday night, April 3rd, as the series returns for back-to-back weekends at the Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway.

The USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series would like to thank Southwest Contractors, Hoosier Tire, Amsoil, Cory Kruseman's Sprint Car & Midget Driving School, Crow Enterprizes, DJ Safety, Extreme Mufflers, Hinchman-Indy Racing Uniforms, Integra Shocks, Kaeding Performance, Kirkey Racing Fabrication, Port City Racing, and Saferacer.com for their support.

Joining the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Cars will be the Western States Modifieds. Reserved Grandstand Tickets are $18 and Bleacher Tickets are $15. Advance tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling the track office at (559) 688-0909.

The Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway is located on the Tulare County Fairgrounds at the corner of Bardsley and K Streets in Tulare. For more event information, please visit the track’s website at www.tularethunderbowl.com.

Peter Murphy (as well as several other drivers) has had a run of bad racing luck. At both the Tulare and Hanford shows, he was involved in tangles that took him out of contention while running second.

Last Saturday night at Bakersfield, he was involved in another tangle while running 6th or 7th after starting 10th. He was towed to the pits where the Tarlton Crew made repairs. Soon after rejoining the field, he was collected in another incident.
