It's 1961, Hutch is about to commence with cars that would be known as supermodifieds.
The weather is hot, the trophy girls are hot, the race cars are hot, even the track is hot.
Aluminum is scarce, and carbon fiber is "whut them there NASSER ASTREENAWTS use to send them monkies into outer space with,....mostly to eat I'm shurr".

Word has it that Jack Walker, yes Ricky and Bobby Walkers Dad, is in the blue 31 at 2:52 into this clip.

I don't normally do mini sprints-but(knew it'd be there)-
There are quite a few who used to race on the ground that is now Lupi's foundation (his house). Some are racing elsewhere, some just want to see it one more time. Faxon was pretty special in it's day, sometimes you could watch the mini's and then turn around on top of the stands and watch 1/8 mile drag racing on friday nights (if you wanted). They were especially particular about the appearance of their cars too, lot'sa chrome and paint. Some of those cars sparkled under the lights and were neat.
first clip is 5 minutes

What is really neat is listening to the late Jack Claxton and his announcing. That is why I love the majority of my tapes from the 80's.
Can't wait until you post the famed NCRA/USAC race.

1984 Tulsa NCRA
|
Uploads it turns out are taking a very long time worldwide on youtube, so it isn't just me right now. Anyways, I'll keep plugging along. This show is 9 parts, and a complete NCRA Champ Dirt show.
Quick question- I thought Tulsa Fairgrounds Speedway shut down at the end of 1983. Yet this vid looks like 1984 to me. 1983 or 1984?

Updates-
The NCRA Amarillo (1970's) video has completed the first stage of conversion, and it is now ready to come to me. It was not cheap! But the report I got was the film was very nice! I'll have to do edits and sound, so it will be a while...I can put a short clip on soon to give you a quick glimpse.
Soon I will be putting some NCRA Late Model shows on too, 1984 -1985. Outside of the NDRA at the time, these were one of the standard setting out fits for this type of car- with all the stars of the day too.

Doing the voice over on this, and many other of the NCRA shows that will be posted, is friend Dr. Pat Sullivan of Indianapolis. Pat is the announcer for the IRL and has also announced many USAC races as well.
