I am going to go to Williams Grove for the first time in July. I can go to a regular show or change my plans an see an outlaw show. Was wondering what would be the best to see, where to sit and how early that I should get there. I am coming from Calif. and just want to see a good show. Thanks

You can save yourself a lot of money by going to the races at Chico or Placerville!

If you are looking for atmosphere, go to an outlaw show. There is always a buzz in the air when the WoO comes to Williams Grove. The place is usually packed. You may or may not see a good race. If you want to see better racing, come for a regular show. The Big Dogs usually start in the middle of the pack due to handicapping. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

As you probably know, there is a lot of history at Williams Grove and the area. The depth of car quality is second to none for a weekly show.
The first time I went it was the coldest race I'd ever been to and stuck it out. Glad I did.
As a bonus, you can take a tour of Gettysburg and the battlefields which is very interesting.

There's also a racing museum close to there that is pretty neat to visit. Can't remember the name though.

I am gonna suggest the 16th. 410 Time Trials and 358's are on the card. The crowd will be a little lighter due to the fact that the WoO's are there the following week. That way you can venture around to different vantage points throughout the night. The atmosphere is nice for the WoO shows, but can be just as annoying as well. Either way, I'm sure you'll have fun.

Thank you! I think that place is a must see for anyone that appreciates racing in any form. What an impressive collection of racing history they have in a very unassuming building nestled in the countryside.

Why would you not go to a WoO show if u could?? It would just mean there are that many more good cars there...I think a lot of those guys run with the outlaws when they come to town. I would def. go when the outlaws were there! Good Luck, Have a fun trip...It should be a blast!

I agree that the cherry popping of the Cow Palace should occur at a WoO show..................

Many many thanks. That first Lincoln show just justified my entire month's Comcast bill. Lincoln is so awsome when the place is tacky. Had it rained that nite or did they actually water it that well?
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

depends, if you are $ conscious then go to the reg show. for 12$ best money you will ever spend. if not go to WoO show. watching pa locals against the WoO is always good. either way, i am sure you will enjoy it. beer hill is a nice place to sit, great view. (third turn).
