Devil's Bowl Spring Nationals this weekend with ASCS National Tour.

Reminder - it is advised to not go Highway 80 then South on Lawson Rd. I have not been down this road in several years - because I've heard it will tear up your car/truck. Depending on the direction - I would either take I-20 to Lawson Rd. and go North on Lawson Rd. or if coming from the North - stay on I-635 (LBJ Freeway - which is usually a parking lot on Fri. afternoon) on South to Exit #3 - Bruton Rd./Cartwright. Go East on Cartwright for about 6 miles (estimated) then turn left onto Lawson Rd. at the traffic light. Cartwright is a 6 lane divided rd. through business (a Sonic) and residential. Sometimes there are good gas prices on Cartwright - but generally the next exit south on (Exit #2 - Lake June Rd.) is better. The Wal-Mart (Murphy) was $2.47 Sunday (that would be West on Lake June about a block) or there is a new QT if you turn East that has also been close to those prices. You can then continue East on Lake June and intersect Cartwright (2nd light, I think) and turn right and go to Lawson Rd.

I know this is lengthy - just trying to help your trip to Dallas/Mesquite as easy & pleasant as possible.

I usually stay at 80 and beltline, but this time I am staying at 635 and military parkway. I have been told that you can go east there and hit lawson road??? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

When I've tried to go East from 635 & Military Parkway it seems like I had to wind around the airport. I just pulled up mapquest and see that if you go East on Military it turns into Davis. You can then turn right on Clay Mathis and it will run into Lawson Rd. Turn Left and the Bowl is just a few blocks on your left. OR - going East on Military you can turn left at the T (on past Clay Mathis), where it dead ends at the airport grounds then turn right on Scyene Rd. and right on Lawson Rd. (another T intersection). OR - just go South on 635 and Cartwright is the next exit and turn left - East - and follow it to the traffic light @ Lawson Rd. Going back from the Bowl you can go North on Lawson Rd. (left out of the Devil's Bowl) and turn left just before the railroad track (where Lawson is probably closed anyway) and it will take you back to 635 where Scyene is one way West bound and Military is one way East bound (or something like that. They cross in this area - but you can see it all okay from the intersection). Nice thing - there is a Waffle House and other eating places where you will be. I hope I haven't confused you too much.
