Tony Jones to Support Golf Tournament Fund Raiser
for Breast Cancer Awareness
Lakewood, CA. – Orange, CA.'s Tony Jones has added his name in support of Breast Cancer Awareness by joining his long-time sponsor the Zanzabuku Sports Lounge in hosting the bar's fifth annual charity golf tournament at the Little Recreation Golf Course (Little Rec) in Long Beach on Saturday, April 24.
The 2007 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Champion has joined a new team in the battle to help raise the public's awareness to find a cure for this dreaded cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness is part of the Susan G. Komen Program for the Cure, an organization that has become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. Part of the program is the "Passionately Pink for the Cure" and will be the beneficiary of this year's charity golf tournament fund raiser.
Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan's compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.
That promise is now the Susan G. Komen Program for the Cure, the global leader of the global breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.3 billion since its inception in 1982. As the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, they are working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
The event involves a $55.00 entry fee and includes golf carts for each foursome with a scramble start on the Little Rec's beautiful nine-hole golf course. Other plans include a raffle for a 40-inch, flat screen, color television; a free golf hat and gift bag; three money holes; raffle prizes; a free buffet and awards ceremony following the day's activities at the Zanzabuku. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. with first tee at 10 a.m. Golfers are encouraged to sign up early as tournament directors expect a large turnout for this worthy benefit.
Jones is in good health following a series of flips in Mark Alexander's "Silver Bullet" Sprint Car at the Perris Auto Speedway's opener on Sunday, March 7, and is looking forward to the next USAC/CRA race on March 27, at the PAS.
