Any more news on the USAC 360s? The winner, Dean Alexander is a new name for me - any background information? Looks like the VanderWeerd brothers had a good night. Congratulations to both of them as well as father Ron and family.

Dean "Kiwi" Alexander has a lot of experience in midgets and micros and had raced sprints in the past. Holds the track record for a non-wing 360 at Kings with an unreal....14.85

I'm sure this won't be the last time you'll hear his name.

Thanks for the info Mr. Woodhouse. Sounds impressive. I like the way Lance adds the car owner's name to the results. Good luck @ Kings next week, I am sure it will be a huge success.

wasnt much of a race after the top 5 cars crashed out and the race was called after about 13 laps due to so many red and yellow flags during the night

Sherdian and Murphy were pretty much the only cars worth watching untill they both crashed

Kirkbride was fast untill he took a wild ride down the front stretch

Alexander was just in the right place at the right time when the yellow/checkerd droped at 11:35 PM

Tulare was a million dollar junk yard after this weekend was said and done. 20 cars (winged & non-wing) rather destroyed or damaged, 3 drivers hospitalised (Shafer,Allard, and Kirkbride)

hope them all the best and a speedy recovery

I sure appreciate your optimism.

1) Top 5 cars didnt crash out

2) Kirkbride didnt go to the hospital

3) Completed 25 laps, not 13

4) You are correct, Kirkbride was fast. So why were Sheridan and Murphy the only cars worth watching? Did you happen to see how many cars Stidham passed?

This message board is a great tool and a great way to comunicate, but I hate when people write stuff on here, without having a clue about what they are talking about.

Thanks Chris for telling Mr. Iceman what really happened at the race, saved me the trouble from doing it,and to add one more thing, did he also happen to see how far from the back that R. VanderWeerd and TJ Smith came. It was a great race front and back. 29 teams 29 awesome drivers.

Thanks Chris for the real story of a race I didn't attend. Iceman must be an Outlaw winger fan. Glad young Kirkbride was not injured and thanks for bringing this new USAC series to California. Can't wait to get up to Santa Maria to watch these guys run.

no disrespect guys, i was just speaking my mind

Chris, you were right about the laps, sorry

from what i saw, Sheridan and Muprhy were the class of the feild and pretty much ran away with the race untill they crashed

not saying that everyone else wasnt fast, but the 18 and 21 sure did have controll

oh! and im a "Al Boner" fan lol

Sorry Iceman, but I have to defend the series. If people just read your comments, it looks like we ran a 13 main event and only had 2 fast cars.

Sheridan and Murphy will always rise to the top, but they've got some serious competition this year!

Really frustrating (after waiting until after 11:00 pm to see the non-wing A main start) to see Showtime get pinched off through no apparant fault of anyone's as they went into T3 in traffic. (Hey! They're racing out there.) They were the story until then with both of them threading their way through the back markers in a hurry. Murph was able to restart at the back, but Danny's Kittlemobile had come down too hard for that.

Several of the wing and non-wing end-over-enders were pretty stunning. Two of the wingers went over one in front of the other at the start-finish line. The fence at Tulare is not that high, and the cars were well above it. Eeeeyowwwwwww.

And Joey Saldana's Budwagon looked like a slot car back in the '60s the way he was trearing through the field. Too bad about Haud; he looked good in his heat but had back luck in the Main. Old Steve was the hard charger, btw.

By the way you forgot to mention Danny Faria jr, came from the 11th starting position and was working on alexander for 3rd position when the 18 and 21 got together in turn 3. But he ran over something with his RR and put a hole in it, which made his car start hopping in the turns and finished with only 5 psi in the RR and no brakes!

Hollywood is exciting to watch no matter where he starts or finishes. Definitely a crowd pleaser.

Yes Saturday was a wrecking yard at Tulare, Ricky Kirkbrides crash was unfortunate he denied going to the hospital, I'm not sure if they ended up going or not. Anyways I was wandering if there will be any pictures up from Saturday anytime soon. Thanks, Dylan

I don't think it's possible to emphasize how hard Ricky Kirkbride's crash was during the feature - the video doesn't do it justice. One thing it didn't catch was the fuel tank going flying off of the car - probably at least a good 30 feet in the air. It probably landed about 150 feet past where his car ended up coming to rest. It's a good thing it went flying toward the infield instead of the stands - that could have been very, very bad if it had gone into the crowd.

I know the circumstances were unique for the first show - no qualifying, having the feature shortened - but I think it was a good show, and I know some people in the stands who aren't normally non-wing sprint guys were impressed. I think the proof is going to come this Saturday night at Hanford, when they are headlining the show and also have to compete for cars (to some extent) with Ventura.

ice who are you to judge who the class of the feild was and kiwi only being in the right place at the right time were you wearing a blindfold because kiwi blew past the 21 of murphy quite a few times bud due to the reds and yellows murphy kept getting his spot back no disrespect to peter he is one of the best in the business but those are the rules and as for tularte being a jnunk yard the track was the best it has been in quite a while so next time u decide to comment on this board pull your head out of your @$$ and get the facts straight chris thanks for putting on a great opening night for the series and for shutting this moron up
