DAVID CARDEY OPENS SEASON WITH A 10TH PLACE FINISH!
(MARCH 2, 2010, RIVERSIDE, CA) David Cardey, 2nd place finisher in the 2009 USAC/CRA Championship point standings, opened his 2010 racing season with a 10th place finish in the Annual Sokola Shootout at Perris Auto Speedway on Sunday, February 28th.
Delayed 24 hours due to rain, Cardey, who now has extra duties as the car owner as well as the driver, and his team were greeted by sunny skies and 36 other cars from the USAC National and CRA Sprint Car Series'. In qualifying, the veteran driver from Riverside, California was 14th overall in the 37-car field. He backed up that qualifying effort with a fourth place finish in second heat race and booked an automatic ticket into the 30-lap Sokola Shootout main event.
For the main, the 34 year old, who won the 2003 California Lightning Sprint Car championship, started in position 13, which was inside the seventh row in the 24 car-starting field. By the time the Eddie Ramirez threw the checkered flag to end the 30-lapper, Cardey had guided the red #59 Viper 5-Bar to a 10th place finish.
Happy with the 10th place finish? Satisfied with it? NO! Cardey and the team want more! He and the crew are already working hard for their next race on March 27th at the team's home track, Perris Auto Speedway.
