The Super Bowl halftime show needs to grow a pair. It's like the FCC put this together.
The Who? Their name fits. This dudes voice sounded like it didn't make it past the 80's lol. These pre-historic bastards need to be playing at museums. This is a bad joke.
My apologies if I offended any senior citizens.......er.......I mean fans of this ancient band.

Concerts have no business at sporting events, and that includes NASCRAP races. I would go to see event that I want to see and that don't include concerts or anything other than what I am there for.
Of course I would have given anything to go see Toby Keith and Tisdale's band perform during halftime of the OU/Texas game yesterday. That is a bit different.

of all the things you could come with there - you come with Marilyn Manson? thats so sad it makes it amusing. In near 4,000 posts I don't think there has ever been one in there that would suggest anything like that. but ok lol.
No - read it again. I want to see something that actually fits. I'll retreat from my sarcasm a tick - I understand people liking music of The Who. I am not one of those people, however I do like that first song they did. It would have sounded good if they did a halftime show a couple decades ago - I mean - that guy sounded like shit. The whole senior citizen comment is good fun. I like much the same music lol. Hell I listen to such a variety of stuff its unbelievable - but no I dont like Marilyn Manson - in fact - I don't like any sort of rock made in the last decade or so. whether it be the goth type or the punk stuff or the new age or whatever. I like classic rock the most. and Randy pegged relatively close - I do like some rap and hip hop - not really the vulgar type but.....anyways. I'm straying from the point badly. I liked Tom Petty - I like ZZ top. Like their music a lot. But having them for halftime shows of the biggest annual sporting event in the world just doesn't make any sense to me honestly.
I mean - such washed up bands 20-30 years + past their prime shouldn't be playing that event - they belong more touring casinos. I can't help but think this has to make some level of sense to just about everyone. If these bands were still in their prime - it would make sense. I think - along with a majority - that the halftime show of the biggest game in the world should have truly popular entertainment. It's not a dislike of the music. I love classic rock above all else - but it is really lame - these bands are not playing halftime shows because they are great. The Who wasnt playing because they are anything big or anything - The Who was playing because they want to completely avoid anything attractive after what happened with the "wardrobe malfunction". Now THAT - IS common knowledge. Even in terms of classic rock - even in modern times - The Who is second rate. In avoiding anything even attractive - they have basically ran away from anything quality as well. Just because they dont want Beyonce on stage shaking her ass (and drawing the ire of conservative groups across the nation - who seem relatively ok with the commercials that do the same ironically lol) - doesn't mean they have to get such a 2nd rate washed up band to perform. Go get U2, Bruce Springstein, The Eagles. All 3 were INFINITELY more popular than The Who. It's not even comparable.
Still - the fact that you mention Marilyn Manson of all things suggests a lot. I mean - he was never popular - only controversial. I would REALLY like to see U2. As for modern stuff - just do something that is half ass popular. Yeah I really want to see Beyonce. But even if not that - Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift. Any of these would put on a show 5,000,000,000 times better than The Who. It would make equal sense too. Anyone with any common sense at all knows they didnt go get The Who to play this because they are great - they went and got The Who to AVOID something great.

Just watched the game......Weird Al Yankovic should have done this one, with a corps of dancing bookies gettin' down with all the Indianapolis money. At least they don't have Jim Nabors....yet.

Dude, I'm just messin with you......I knew that would ruffle your feathers. it's been awhile since I seen one of your novels on here, I gotta say, you did shut that one off short this time.
By the way, I don't think it's fair to say, "The Who" is second rate, hell, They done been there and done it. ol'e Roger has to be at least 60 years old or better.

i know man lol. i was messin round with even posting bout this.
The whole retirement folks thing was just a joke lol. i thought it was kind of funny and kind of true too. Just wish they would stop being so damn conservative with the halftime show. If they dont wanna put controversial people out there that is just fine by me. But they have gone wayyyy too far the other direction. imo of course.
The Who being second rate - well hell - in the PRESENT they are not 2nd rate - they aren't even in the top 5. Heck we might as well have the Flying Elvis' or a Beatles tribute band lol.

The Who help make rock what it is today. Kinda like you had to be there to know where there comming from. I bet they are closer to 70 than 60 though. In the 70's rock music was coming of age and electric guitars and songs writtin about the times.
I remembering going to see the Rolling Stones at OU stadium a few years back and it is the same thing, Old men still playing their old songs but you might of have to live in that era to apprieciate it. I also remember going to see Boston at a Casino in Miss. and there was only one original member, it looked like there might have been a few in The Who that might of not been the Original band as well.
But if The Who can Make a come back maybe SFS can too!

singer is 65, old dude on guitar is 64. I agree they sounded like crap and I like The Who. Ever since the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" the performers get older every year. Next year they should have Bob Dylan. I thought the dude on guitar might stroke out before the set was over.

Okay, you don't like The Who. I do.
But I also like U2-and am looking for place on the vid thing for some of their stuff.(with race cars of course).
And I would bet The Edge as well as Bono are also Who fans. They had to learn it from somewhere.

ok folks - I'm not questioning the influence of The Who. I am well aware of their impacts all around. But I do think I had a good point - when it comes to TODAY - the present - they are worse than 2nd rate.
It stands to reason - for being so incredibly popular and highly influential (which as an avid classic rock fan I think both of those descriptions are going just a BIT too far) - but why werent they asked to play 2 decades ago - 2 decade ago. Hell for the sake of reason - why not in "their time". Do we all wanna see Beyonce Knowles when she's 60 sumthin and fat and lookin like Arita Franklin? So why have the The Who play when they are near 40 years past it? that has to make some sense.....
but I really do understand people digging their music - but I think most can generally agree having performers so far past their prime - in that setting - its just.........well..........fill in the blank lol.

Do you mean to tell me if the Who had another come back tour and gave you free tickets, you would not go?
