Saldana, Dollasky, Kinser, Wolfe, Hafertepe top 5.

The older I get, the faster I used to be.

Two nights...a win and a second.

Gotta love the start of the 2010 season!

Did someone say SIDES was not there?

You could tell Saldana's postrace interview when he got asked about the tires that he wanted to say something along the lines of "Goodyear just gave more money and now we have to use them"... it was pretty clear, at least to me, that Saldana liked the Hoosiers better but those days are gone now.

I'm just glad the race is over so I don't have to hear the other announcer say "absolutely" and "the famous cone" every other sentence and the track reporter calling Joe Saldana Kasey Kahne.

Wolfe was in his own car tonight, wasn't bad, (go figure). Dollansky was fast even though he lost the left panel of his nose wing around lap 10. Sides intentionally did not run. His crew guy said they shook the car down last night and were running for points over the weekend. When I asked about not attempting to go for the $7000 to win tonight his reply was "Do we need a reason?" and no they do not. They are watching their dimes and chose to wait it out.
Bye bye, Hardhat!

Wolfe is definitely running strong out of the gate, nice to see him performing the way he did in PA basically his whole career here. Also, for the trashing the xxx chassis has received on this board, it hasn't seemed to effect the performance of the R19 too much, the results don't show for Jac last night but he was on his way to a likely top 5 until the tire let go...

The chassis have nothing to do with finishing good or bad. When Lucas drove it on Wednesday night, he lost spots. A good night means you pass guys and finish better than you started. Lucas wasn't even to race Wednesday but they asked him after Jac decided to head home to be with his dad.

I'm sure money had a decision in their switching also.

Sorry, but some of the teams did fine on the Goodyear tires - Saldana won, TK last to ninth, Dale Blaney 22nd to 10th....

Yeah, lots of flats, but how do some teams manage to make their tires last, while others don't?

It may not be the tires, or it may be, but I think that after two races, it's just too soon to tell......

And Dude Fan must have mind reading powers if he can tell "...what Saldana wanted to say..." during his interview post-race......

Dude fan is dead on about Saldana's comments. Biting his toung the entire time. His tire didn't go because he ran 80% of his laps with 3 wheels over the cushion as did Dollansky. Steve was on the bottom a lot and amazingly didn't use up the rubber, same with the dud Lasukski. Blaney was super fast in his heat running the bottom, but I'm not sure where he ran it in the feature. I couldn't give a shit either way about tire brands, but it sure seems others do. Isn't about the competition???? Well, with contracts, I don't see the competition.

Bye bye, Hardhat!

Guys who start in the back are doing the exact same thing they have done for years, put on a brand new tire for the feature. If you start 22, why not put on a new tire and just start 24? They did it with the Hoosiers, they're doing it with the Goodyears. I wouldn't be afraid to bet that TK did it in the feature also.

That ain't all bad. Good for the racing, was it not? Anything that creates more passing is a very good thing. In that respect, the one tire per night rule works well. Wish it was a universally used rule.

In the WoO, most teams run a new tire in the feature; the WoO rule is here, from the 2009 rule book...

Fitting New Tires

I.) A new right rear tire may be fitted before the start of any Main Event.J.) If a new right rear tire is fitted between qualifying time and a heatthen that car loses its qualifying time and position and must race the rest of the program as such. K.) If a car loses a right rear tire on its first qualifying lap, a new right reartire can be fitted, but the car will be restricted to one (1) lap at the end of qualifying and can qualify no better than 17th L.) If any team attempts to fit a new right rear tire prior to any Main togain an advantage any penalty, including disqualification, is at the discretion of the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series Director. M.) During any Main, any flat and/or damaged tire may be changed, during a caution period in the designated work area. That car will fall in at the rear of the field when the race resumes. During any Main, tire changes will only be allowed for damaged tires, flat tires and/or damaged wheels. This rule applies to all four (4) tires on the car. The All Stars restrict their teams to one tire for qualifying, heat, and A-main...from the All Star rule book...  Left rear tire will have a 15 inch maximum tread width. Right rear tire shall be the designated spec tire only (SC brand ). Softening of tire compounds by soaking in a chemical bath or by any other means is strictly prohibited. One Right Rear tire per night shall be used for Qualifying, Heat Race, & A-main. So while TK and Dale might have put on a new tire, according to the rules, they were not supposed to..but as Hood says, they started in the rear, anyway. But TK was supposed to start on the pole, but a fuel leak forced him to take two push offs, which negated his original starting spot. And he probably had on his qualifying RR.....   Left rear tire will have a 15 inch maximum tread width. Right rear tire shall be the designated spec tire only (SC brand ).
