I'm pretty sure it cost money to paint them already, the last time I bought paint I could buy red, yellow, white and so on for the same price as black. This is about could the car be made to look better.Maybe some different vinyl stripes or something would help it out.

Get Randy Frank or YAK to redo the car for ya'. It may not go any faster but it will be a helluva lot better to look at! Yes, it's shelf life is way past expiry date. Take It Easy...

I think the R19 needs to have whatever paint job the owner chooses to have. If he wants to make it plaid, then that should be the end of the discussion.

I never buy into the "you don't own a car or drive one... so you are therefore stupid" train of thought.
This thread is REALLY pushing me in that direction.
Unhappy with a car's paint scheme? Geez... buy a car & paint it how you want to. Pay $30k and get new painted bodywork for the team.
I think people will never be happy in general. This is the 2nd comment I've seen about changing paintjobs... the other was about Hodnett's car.
I dj at a bar on the weekends... this weekend people kept saying "play something different" and the next person would say "play the normal stuff".
You can't be all things to all people. Everyone wants something different. I'll bet a nickel that the R19 owner doesn't say "let's make it as ugly as possible." They have a flashy scheme that has stayed consistent for years. A LOT of people admire that. Apparently... if you don't change nonstop... some people aren't happy.
Repeat: you can't be all things to all people.

In 2005, the R19 team went to a Maxim chassis. The first one was put together in Maxim's parking lot, so it lacked the usual powder coat. I thought the raw tubing made the car look mean with the black panels and the flames. When the chassis switch was justified to Lon, he didn't really care about manufacturer, as long as it was orange the next time he made it to a race. This meant taking apart the car and painting the chassis. I did this in a motel parking lot in Lake Havasu with a case of rattle can orange. Lon explained that it was like a trade mark. Whether people like the car or not, it is instantly recognized. I've since kept my car the same scheme for the reason that: a casual observer may not remember my name, but they remember "That Black and Purple Car".
While they all attempt to be unique, all the swooshy looking wraps look like variations on the same theme. In the end, they stuff on the outside has little to do with how fast it goes. The driver can't tell what color the thing is.
Go get 'em Haud, Leonard, Marie and Lon!

I'll chime in for a different reason. Black cars tend to look pretty good at a car show at the mall. They do not look so good at night, under the lights, on a dark, dirt track. Add in some dust, and they're really hard to see. Blcak is so trendy now, that I've seen races last year, where a majority of the cars in any given race were black.
Brighter cars look like they're going faster. They catch your eye and are easier to follow on a racetrack. They stand out from the crowd.
Why is black so popular right now, but brown never is? Ever seen a UPS brown sprint car?

Leave it the way it is. I like it and so do most others that I've talked to. It destinctive, recongnized immediatly and looks great. Besides, once Jac gets it open right up, it's just a blur anyway.......
Go Jac and the entire R19 team, Lon, Len and Marie.

After 50+ years of going racing I am still waiting for a car to be told they must be disqualified and not allowed to be the winner because their car does not have "an attractive paint job!"
I don't know where the guy lives who started this post but I bet his town has children who will go to bed hungry tonight and he's worried about a paint job on a stupid race car!
