According to a search I did on www.openwheeltimes.com , Danny won a total of 41 races from 1988 until his untimely passsing in 1995.
While those numbers are nothing to be sneezed at, there are more deserving drivers who had very successful careers that are not yet in the HOF....and Danny's successes were mostly in Iowa. The last time I looked, the HOF was supposed to represent ALL of American sprint car racing....
No disrespect meant to Danny and his accomplishments, but there's lots of folks worthy of induction into the HOF that aren't there yet.....
Chuck.....

I'm not familiar with Danny Young, but saw on the internet that he died of multiple injuries suffered in a WoO heat race at Knoxville in 1995. Must have been very successful to have won 41 sprint car races but I agree with sprinter25 in that there are too many ahead of him waiting to get in. Maybe we should have some type of Hall of Fame for these fallen heros or a room at the H of F dedicated to those drivers killed while trying to thrill us racing fans.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

There is a Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame...totally separate from the national HOF. Danny was inducted into the Knoxville Hall of Fame the year after his death. He was from Des Moines and was a legend in the 360 class, as well as racing in the 410. He was and will always be one of Knoxville Raceway's favorite sons. Love and miss you, Rocket Man.

scribe is right, danny was loved by almost everyone that saw him run. i have heard that he was going to take a local team on the road. we'll never know what he could've done with it. i don't think i'll ever forget the call i got the night he died. i fully believe that danny would have landed in the hall. he was that good. but we'll never know. danny young was truely a potential unrealized. he will always be the pride of the east side tho'!!
