Sammy not only went from last to third, but he was caught up in a couple of wrecks that also sent him to the tail. One was when he was running 11th. My guess is that he passed at least 40 cars in the "A" tonight.
But tonight was Kevin's night. He was on fire. At the drop of the green, he dropped from the front row to around 6th or 7th and when he found the top (diamonding 3&4) it was all over. Cole Whitt, put on an awesome drive too. He is one to watch!

You just can't get it through your thick noggin that Danny had nothing to do with the money that was given as entry fee or supposed to be given as winnings, can you? He used his name as a promotional service to get drivers to race. Give it a break and move on.

Why would you even say that? Just to ruin this post? You are the one looking like an A-hole now.

This year was the first time I have been to the Chili Bowl and it will not be my last. The atmosphere was out of bounds and the racing was next to none. I have been to a lot of racing venues in my life but nothing like this one, all I can ask myself what the hell was I thinking? Since I live in Oklahoma only an hour and a half from Tulsa lol.
Wether you like Slammin Sammy or not you can not take away the driving skills (and some luck from a few yellows). The guy put on a hell of a show and to finish third starting from the back three times and to have his son win the A was pretty darn cool.
Congratulations to Kevin Swindell for his first Golden Driller....

Congrats to Kevin; awesome addition to your resume!
Congrats to Sammy on another successful Chili Bowl appearance. The picture that features Sammy holding up Kevin's arm, is priceless. Great job guys! I am thankful for sprint car/midget racing and I am thankful for the Swindell family's contributions to this great sport.
I also want to address the "haters" and share some of my opinions about why Sammy deserves our respect;
First of all, to JonR, your "chickensh!+" post says a lot about your character!
Second, Sammy is one of the most talented sprint car drivers of all time. His natural talent behind the wheel is 2nd to none and his technical ability and complete understanding of the car is fascinating. You don't have to like the person (btw, I do), but his abilities as a driver/mechanic deserve our respect and appreciation.
Even during moments of weakness, his outbursts seem sincere. I can tolerate "Sammy like" outbursts because they're real and are fueled by determination. The emotions that I can't stomach are the "Kyle Busch like" outbursts that seem to be fueled by arrogance and by a complete lack of respect.
Thank you to Sammy for keeping it real!

Sounds like one hell of a race. Congrats to the Swindell's. Does anyone know if there will be an airing on speed at a later date like last years?
