LANCE DEWEASE SCORES IN NON-STOP SPRINT FEATURE

MECHANICSBURG, PA - Lance Dewease used a spectacular inside move through turns three and four with one lap remaining to take the lead from Mark Smith, then went on to win Friday night's non-stop sprint car feature at Williams Grove Speedway. Smith took the lead at the start and set the pace while Dewease, who started 8th, was moving through traffic. Dewease was up to third by lap 14 trailing only Smith and Brian Paulus. He got by Paulus with four laps left and began to close on Smith. The winning move began when Dewease entered turn three several car lengths behind the leader, but somehow managed to drive by Smith exiting turn four. The victory was worth $3000 and was the 67th of Dewease's career at Williams Grove. Smith settled for second and took the lead in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point standings. Paulus was third followed by Doug Esh,, who started seventh, and Todd Shaffer, who started tenth. Jeff Shepard, Steve Buckwalter, Brian Montieth, Brian Leppo and Fred Rahmer completed the top ten. Rahmer advanced 14 positions after starting dead last. Heats for the 37 sprint cars were won by Smith, Dewease, Don Kreitz, Jr., and Esh. . Josh Wells and Montieth won the consolation races. Jason Covert led wire-to-wire to win the 25-lap late model feature. Steve Casebolt finished second with Jack Pencil third and J. T. Spence fourth. Gary Stuhler, who started 17th, completed the top five. Heats for the 46 late models were won by D. J. Troutman, Les Hare, Jeff Bryner and Casebolt. Stuhler and Chris Harr won the consolation races. Williams Grove will host an open cockpit double header on April 6 when the super sportsman will join the sprint cars

Josh Wells, 22. Niki Young, 23. Chris Meleason, 24. Rich Eichelberger

 

The feature more than made up for the fast/single file heats....

Some very nice runs by several drivers throughout the whole feature!!!
