I have been noticing that there aren't very many All-Star races being listed in the early schedule release by the northeast tracks. Williams Grove does have 2 for 2010 and they had 2 last year. Lincoln only has 1 scheduled this year vs. 2 in 2009. Port Royal has 0 on their 2010 schedule and had 2 last year. Eldora has 0 on their schedule too and they were a long time All Star venue. Lawrenceburg also didn't have them on their schedule this year which leads one to assume that the fall $10k race will not be held in 2010. I know there are still several tracks waiting to release their schedules and the All Stars are notorious for releaseing their schedule late. Is it safe to make the assumption that the All Stars didn't do themselves any favors last season by only having 4-5 teams that traveled to all of the races? I just have to wonder if the PA racetracks have realized that paying the sanction fee of the All-Stars was not worth the 4-5 cars it added to their regular program? I also know there is no love lost between PA fans and the All-Stars management, which is evident by other message boards thrashings.

Does anyone have any insight as to what/when we can expect to see from the All Stars this season? It would be pretty sad if 8 of their 40 or so races took place while snow is still on the ground in most of the country (2 Ocala, 3 Volusia, 3 East Bay)

Proof that great drivers can only carry poor management so far.

The OP must not be familiar with the official All-Star fan stance of shut up and pay your money. LOL

I don't mean this a bash of the teams that came into PA to run last year, but the ASCoC really bring nothing to the table for an extra $6-8 at the front gate. The race at Lincoln was excellent, but other than Dale Blaney at Lincoln, the ASCoC teams are not competitive.

Tim Shaffer is competitive too, capable of winning. Other than that, I would agree.

Just trying to be fair here...

When the All Stars and Posse go to a neutral ground like Ocala, aren't the results about 50/50? When the Posse comes to Ohio, they do not dominate, right? You have to understand, it is very hard to go to someone's backyard and run like they do. Look at the Outlaw shows this year, Outlaws go to the Grove, Posse wins, Outlaws go to Attica, Blaney wins.

All I am saying is, lets be fair.

Like I said, I wasn't bashing. I was mostly comparing it from a standpoint of paying $20-25 for a field that is not very different from the weekly $14 show. I realize central PA is a tough nut to crack for any outsider, but the All-Star shows in this area would at least be interesting if they would bring more than just a handful of cars. I have seen just about every ASCoC show in cental PA over the past 12-15 years, and it just doesn't seem worth it to pay a sanctioning fee when only 3-4 outside cars are qualifying at some of the shows, IMO.

Posse is a bad example they have kicked the WoO butts in PA the last couple of years due to wing change and the WoO did not have track time it will probably be the same this year with the new tires, in Ohio the All Stars compete and can beat locals Blaney, Shaffer, Wilson, Hannagan (Ran Alot of All Star Races last year, and David Grevel who is coming into his own, it is a great show in Ohio/Western PA. Didnt Stevie Smith dominate East Bay last year and Win Ohio Sprint Speedweek? I like watching the All Stars at Attica, Fremont, Lernerville and Tri-City. The nice thing about when the All Stars come to Lernerivlle you get a big Posse turn out, same thing at some other tracks, if they run Lincoln or the grove you get to see a complete Posse field.

I have to agree, the ASCOC use to be the best ticket in town. They still have 2 or 3 quality cars that travel with them but that's about it. Adding a couple quality cars to a weekly show is not worth the extra $$. No bashing here, just keeping it real.

Did you ever think the higher price at the gate is used to cover a higher purse for the drivers? Although there has been some increase in weekly purses in PA, it pales to what an All Star purse or even a weekly show at Knoxville pays through the field. I'm sure the drivers would like to see as many All Star purses as possible...

Good point. It costs about the same to get into a "special" (i.e. Speedweek, Keystone Cup) race in PA as it does an All-Star race, even though there's no sanction fee then and the purse is rarely any better. I for one enjoy the All-Star events in PA and usually go just to see some different cars and because it brings out ALL the best PA cars, not just the ones that run for track points on an average handicapping night. Basically, an all-star race in PA is simply a Speedweek time trial show with Blaney, Shaffer, and Wilson added to the mix...

From what I understand, the schedule will be released while the All-Stars are in Florida!!!

I heard Eldora is not hosting any All-Star races this year including no Speedweek show.
