A promoter is asking a judge to block electrical work that would mean the end of racing at the State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City.
The promoter, Edwards Racing Enterprises, and the Oklahoma Racing Association on Tuesday sued the city in Oklahoma County District Court.
District Judge Dan Owens said he will decide after hearing evidence Jan. 21 whether to issue a temporary injunction.
The promoter and association sued after the 2010 racing season on the dirt track was cancelled because of significant safety concerns. The city has been moving ahead with plans to take down electrical lines over the grandstand. The promoter contends the city is in breach of a contract that allowed racing through 2010.
