Pass Time just showed a small block Mustang run an 8.80. It said it was a 460 small block! I've never heard of such a thing but wouldn't another 50 cubic inches on the cushion at Eldora make things interesting again.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

F1 engines are putting out about as much horsepower as most 410's these days. The kicker? Normally aspirated 2.4L (roughly 160 cubic inches).

Hey Pat, how do you think that f1 hp would react to a "dry slick" track

Something that would turn 17,000 rpm in a midget would be cool as hell
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Could of been a mistake (big block) or the motor is a stroker. Question is why waste your money on a FORD! I have an 434 stroker kit for a 350 small block chevy, so it is possible, but way to expensive for a ford.
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

Here's the "old" 3.0L V10 engine (183 CID) from 4 years ago....5 valves per cylinder, normally aspirated....

I've seen stories in drag racing mags (and on line) of small block Chevy's and Fords going out to almost 500". The tall deck blocks with a raised cam make room for some massive strokers.

I think a lot of 430 to 460 small blocks time trial during the Knoxville Nationals then mysteriously develop a miss crossing the finish line on the second lap. I asked Earl Wagner a few years ago why they didn't pump every one that came out. He mumbled something and walked off.

4.185" bore and 4.200" stroke with a 9.500" deck 351w block equals 462cid. Pretty easy build with a Ford.
