There is a real reason as to why Pete Carroll chose to give up the best-known football program in the U.S. for a mediocre NFL football team that even Holgram turned down. Could be he saw the writing on the wall that they got away from being corrupt for so long that now things are catching up to them. Not that they aren't doing anything different than any other big time football program just that now they are finally getting caught.
I will hardly watch Sportcenter anymore because being a big football fan I can go to the NFL. A big baseball fan that I am, I can go to the MLB network, who by the way now has former big time and respected baseball insider Peter Gammons. How ESPN handled the Harold Reynolds so called "sexist at work" thing and fired him first got me to hating that network. All the guy done was give a long time female friend a hug after both not seeing each other for awhile and he got fired.
The Craig James/Mike Leach issue was another stab for me to ESPN. As one analyst on sports talk radio said, the kid was a third string player and daddy couldn't accept that.
Sports, in general, have started to become "blah" to me. ESPN thinks it is the Gospel to all things sports, especially college football. Defensive players can't give a good ole fashion hit on a receiver or quarterback without being charged with unsportsmanlike conduct and NASCAR has turned to crap. Of course the NBA have half thugs and hockey just never was "it" for me.
Anyhoot, that is all for my okcfan essay for this topic, well reply I should say. But to sum it up, I agree that ESPN isn't necessarily good for sports and good to see USC headed to where all other big time schools have been at least once.
