You are one of a very few that have repsonded. A roll over contest would be cool. I know of a guy up in Iowa that did one up at Oskie.

They use to do it in Enid. I remember this crazy guy would roll his car over then get back in it and do it again.

If done right I think it would generate a good crowd base. A good following of fans.
If you have have any more ideas shoot them my way.
Jimmy I already apprecaite your help. It allowed me to think of more things. That is one thing the city was freaking out about was the the grnadstand was not generate enough income when there was not racing going on.

Well at Enid one time during the year they would line the race cars up on the front striate and let the little kids get on them and the drivers made a couple laps slow of course around the track. Man you should see the smile on them kids faces it's priceless. I will thank of some more and email you or something.

How about some motorcycle and atv races, I am sure AMP would give you some pointers. Alot of things that could be done to bring more venues to SFS it just needs to be promoted the right way. You just can't open the gate on friday and say they will come, you got to PROMOTE and they will come. Your on the right track good luck and if you need some help e-mail me I will help all I can.

Flat track motorcycle racing on the Half Mile, Joey Chitwood, and the guy that used to blow his self up by sitting on Dynamite on the front straight are just some of the attractions Fair Grounds Speedway used to offer.
This was copied from a 1970 Mar-Car "Oklahoma RACER" weekly program. Please note the Advertisments on the left.

Do you know there are those in this state that have never seen a truck and tractor pull. I grew up on them. I remember my dad helping a guy from Dallas with a El Camino when they were pulling at the areana.
I got that on my list as well.

I have already included you as the first people to contact when we have the rally date set. There are some drivers that are no longer with us that will be with us in memory.

Read the ad above the Flat Track Motorcycles.....
Horse Races at 2:00 pm and Late Models at 7:30 pm.
We have always co-existed with the horse community. Why all of the sudden are we a lower class of people. If our City Leaders think some of us Race Car folks are less intelligent than those who own a horse, or if they think we (the racers) do not spend anymore money than they (the horses) do to fuel our local economy they are sadly mis-taken.
I have visited with some of the Horse people who by the way are against tearing down a peice of Oklahoma City's history.
Everyone knows Oklahoma is steeped in Horse's and Horse activities, but at the same time Oklahoma also has a long history of Auto Racing.
And when I say, Oklahoma, I mean the entire State.

Well uncle very few people on this board know that my two of my degrees that I have from OSU are related to the horse business. One of them is in Animal Science Production and the other in in Animal Science business with an Ag Econ Minor. Shoot my advisor I had in school is the dean of Ag at West Texas A@M now.
Funny story i have to tell you about him. He is a well know judge in the quarter horse industry. He had judge some world shows here in okc. Anyhow we were going to watch a tape of class he was judging and low in behold it was the indy 500 he had taped over. It came on then he had to fast forward to the the class. I was oh my god he is a race fan. He started to talk about his family and in fact they had a feedlot in western kansas and did race cars in that area. Before he became a professor at OSU he drove a truck hauling sweet potatos. I know a Lawyer in OKC that his dad has a ranch in southern Oklahoma that used a Donavan(sp) engine for his heliacopter.

I also worked for a guy up in Deer Creek that owned a cutting horse ranch and if there was not more of a northern redneck then i do not know what is.
Granted he had a lear jet and a prop plane at Willy post. Yet he had a older vette and a older buick sitting in the barn under wraps.

Anything but demo derbies.
It was a sad sight when the biggest crowd & loudest crowd noise was for that crap this past season.
