yeah it was great wasn't it? lol.
I thought the Heisman voters did a good job - with one exception - Ndamakong Suh should have gotten more votes.
Lookin closer - quite a few tried to give it to McCoy based upon his "body of work" over his career - good thing it didn't work. He got manhandled this year both times he played quality defenses (OU and Nebraska). He's a great player - and a great kid with great charachter - but most thought there were better candidates this year. And Heisman aside - he has nothing to hang his head over - Big 12 Champs for the 2nd year in a row and a chance to win the Championship.
Man, when you look at what Gearhart did - it's really sad his name never came up until Standford's last game this year - damn he was dominant almost every week. But it does stand to some reason that the SEC defenses Ingram faced were probably much more stout than the Pac 10 defenses. It must suck losing the Heisman by only 28 votes - closest margin ever.
Lastly, can't say Ingram did not deserve - he really capped it off with an excellent performance against the #1 ranked defense at that time in the SEC title game (florida). Anybody watch his "speech" after he won it? that was something. dude had to turn his back to the cameras he was sobbing so hard. But it's great to see a player so humble and so appreciative of the honor bestowed upon him. If he can stay injury free he's gonna be a great NFL RB. He's not a Peterson type - or even a Chris Johnson type - I think he's more of a Thomas Jones type. Capable of 30 touches a game and max effort on each one - I strongly doubt ever seeing that dude duck out of bounds when by the sideline. In that sense he is like Peterson - in that he initiates the contact.
Well anyways, I was glad to see him win it - Ingram, Gearhart, Suh - any of those 3 were extremely deserving.
