Assuming that we do all we can do and the city council members and the mayor blow us all off, Does anybody know if there is a charter somewhere, stating that if a track is built within 50 miles of the SFS, that that track cannot run V8 classes or the same class of cars that runs at the SFS?

Well with the possibility of that new track in el reno, if we get two more years at sfs, and he gets that el reno track ready to go it would be with in 50 miles of the sfs. That could determine for at least a while what he can and can not run there.

I heard that in the past as well, but one city cant tell another what they can and cant do. They can put other pressure on them {somewhat}. But I do remember that. Another old document that is rumered to be out there is something about the person that owned the land before the fairgrounds was there, there might be some requierments in that as well. But that document would be in the hands of the Fair Board.

I heard a story that Sabolich wanted o have a Knoxville Nats race a few years back. Okc would not do it so he called up the officials in Guthrie and they were all for it. Well the story goes that Okc officals called up the Guthrie officals and told them they better not.

According to mapquest, track to track right about 52 miles. Well within 50 as the crow flies, besides, those clauses normally cover new construction. I would think Brill's would be grandfathered in for thier establishment prior to this hypothetical legislature. jmo

Keep in mind there was a dragstrip also on the fairgrounds.

Thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard. That would be like saying if mcdonalds sells hamburgers then no one else can sell hamburgers within 50 miles. In america we have freedoms and thats why there is lawyers.

Most non-compete agreements/clauses get tossed when legally challenged in the court system, so even if there is a 50 mile limit clause in an old document, it is unlikely it could withstand a court challenge in todays climate. When I first started attending races at the fairgrounds, Oklahoma City had two active drag strips. One ran on Saturdays and was on the east side of the metro and the other ran on Sundays at 1-40 and Choctaw Road. It was a great week end of racing.

Exactly if they only cover new construction, than the new track in el reno, is within that 50 miles, If there is a Document that has that clause, they will have to look into it.

No body is slamming anybody, all i said was if there is a document like i have heard about, Then he needs to check into so if there is he can run a certian kind of cars and if there isnt, then game on, Besides if we dont get the electric fixed according to the sfs website it wont matter.

That document as I remember hearing stated "as long as it was opened". If it closes there should be no issue.

WOW... This tread is getting crazy every body needs to take a deep breath. IMO the 50 mile thing is B.S. Oklahoma has all kinds of stupid laws on the books and alot of them have been challenged, the wording to some of these laws have been changed and so will this one.
The only thing that will help is the NEWS MEDIA and not getting in to a pissing match on-line.
