I was just given the oppurtunity to attend the King's Royal for the first time on a bus trip. The trip includes my travel, hotel, tickets, and meals for $330. I was wondering what everyone's opinion was of the race, and if it would be worth the money. Thanks

I will comment before all the WoO bashers come on here and take over this thread.
This year, I went to the KR for the 1st time in 10 years and I had a blast. The car count was high, the racing good and we got to see T. Stewart & K. Kahne race in the 360 show. You get two full A mains each night (WoO & 360's). The facilty is outstanding. Tons of bathrooms, food & beer stands and a whole row of souvenier trailers outside the track. They even have a fully stocked bar at the track. The prices are the cheapest I've seen anywhere. The food is cheap and a beer is only $2.00 to $2.50 and a Jack & Coke only $2.50-$3.00.
I am used to the smaller 1/4 & 3/8 mile bullrings in NorCal but it was fun to see the 410's open up on the high banks of Eldora. I highly recommend the race to anyone.
Our 2010 plans are:
- Wednesday: WoO/Limaland Speedway, Brad Doty Classic
- Thursday: Usac/Brownstown Speedway, Indiana Sprint Week
- Friday: WoO/Eldora Speedway, Knight before KR
- Saturday: WoO/Eldora Speedway, KR

Outlaw, If you are staying at the track during the week, there are free bus rides to the Doty from Eldora.

Eldora is the greatest racetrack on the planet bar none. buy some bubble goggles and sit down in turn 4, best seat in the house. Watch out for the Knoxville crowd , they have nearly killed people before. RIP Yosemite.

If you have never been to Eldora before, you have to go if you want to call yourself a true fan of sprint car racing. Last year the race was so so. Blaney gave Schatz a run early but it laid rubber and they needed a fuel stop. Maybe this year will be better. I could care less if Tony and Kahne race in the 360's. The support class just eats up whats left of the track imo.

I have been to all the biggies from coast to coast and the Kings Royal is my favorite. Maybe its because they have the old school 6 car inversion and only take the top 3 on Saturday night and it mixes things-up, but the fans at Eldora are always cool on KR weekend, and the atmosphere is always real good too... If you go to the Doty, and then both nights a Eldora its a good weekend. This will be my 2nd year in a row of missing (damn Army deployment) and that really makes me sad. Now, they do always set the track up that weekend to be dry-slick, so its makes it a crap-shot, sometimes the dry slick makes it more "racy" (I've seen Haud, the King, and the Blaneys make some amazing runs) but sometimes it makes it real dusty and follow the leader. That's the only drawback...
I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.
