Voter turnout was about 31 percent. That is sad to see a city of the size of OKC have such a small turn out for such a important vote. I guess with maps3 passing and the courts it's a done deal. Very sad.

It was over for SFS before the voting ever started. It sucks but the days of inter city race tracks are just about done with the EPA , ADA , politics and want to be politicians wanting to fill their pockets trying to write their own page in history. I voted NO but what the hell it is what it is....

Sad to say but it looks like the drivers and the fans just are not there like they were ten years ago. I rember when I was a kid at what ever track I went to the pits were full and it was hard to find a place to sit in the stands. Now it's the oppisite. Love to see things the way they were back then again.

With maps 3 being about building more variety of activities in okc I can't seem them closing it down. I went to a meeting with the mayor at OCCC and was assured that it wasn't about closing the race track at all but finish the remodeling of the "old" buildings at the fair grounds. Now take that for what its worth as will I, but hopefully its true and they just give the fairgrounds a face lift.

State Fair Speedway is done, folks. The cost to bring the grandstand to ADA compliance is prohibitive. And unless somebody brought a suit to the Supreme Court to argue that the ADA is unconstitutional (which it is), it didn't matter what the goals of MAPS was.

Yeah,

The EPA is the biggest reason we didn't get to keep the family store. The tanks were new enough, no leaks, BUT big bidness wanted that share of the market too.

Sometimes, most times actually, big business tends to hide behind 'politically correctness' to get what it wants.

Political correctness is formed by public opinion, which in turn is guided by big business.

What don't make any sense to me is that there is tracks out there that are allot worse then SFS and the track in the biggest city is the one getting pushed around. It's a bunch of bull.

lets not throw in the towel just yet racers and fans. the city is so busy with project 180 downtown and keeping devon happy that speedway is way down on the list of projects. i think it will probably be five years before anything happens with maps because their plates are already full. and all over the country the goverment is starting to ease up on the ADA issues a little bit. there are always alternatives to consider. so try to keep a positive outlook.

When I win the lottery i will buy the track lol. I wish some big time racaer such as stewart or such would come in and make an offer the city could not refuse.

How long has the state fair speedway been there? my question is why isnt it a land maark? look at how much history the speedway has. World of Outlaws racing there. drivers like Slammin Sammy Swindell raced on that track. its going to be sad to see it leave. The fairgrounds is the track where i wanted to get my first start at? : [ this sucks
