thats sad to see....

I cant believe that some rich man hasnt built a new track at tulsa...

seems like if it was ran correctly, you would have more than enough fan base and a heck of a car count. As for it shutting its doors when longpine was done, thats not surprising to me, he basically turned his back on all the enid people(fans, drivers, and owners).

Hopefully, the tulsa track can be revived

Man that is so sad. I can still see Donnie Crawford lapping Roger Eckert (sp?) for the 3rd time in a heat race. Dirt track racing in OK is looking pretty bleak right about now...

But the future may be looking brighter. Check out the Creek County Speedway website. New ownership is sinking a ton of money into the place and have additional plans for it's future. Forget about the old Tulsa Speedway ever being revived or any new track to be built. There's this thing called zonning that will prevent that. The only single thing the old track has going for it is that it is zoned for racing. But after looking at the video, who would want it? Creek is close enough to Tulsa and easy to get to. In addition to what the new owners are doing at the present time, the future success of the track depends on leasing adjacent property for parking and additional seating capacity. If all former loyal Tulsa Speedway fans will support Creek, it could bring dirt track prominance back to Tulsa. They run a number of ASCS races a year and the OCRS car count has been growing.

I went to one race there last year, a Sooner Regional which Danny Wood won and it was a good show. With the new ownership, it will get better. I for one will be there opening night next spring to show support. I challenge all former Tulsa Speedway fans to be there to. Without fan support, this new beginning will also fail.

Sad!!! Though both are depressing, I think abandonment is worse than tearing down and putting something else up.

I won't watch that youtube video, I remember the great racing there instead.

Made plenty of trips up there from the city area & sure miss it.

Is this what OKC race fans are in for ??

Do your part to affirm this doesn't happen & VOTE NO Tuesday.

It's a shame that a city the size of Tulsa doesn't have a dirt track any longer. I would vote for tearing down the horse track and moving them back to the fairgrounds.

that would be great but the neighborhood doesnt want it there,,,,the track was ran very poorly by those idiots from enid. they were too busy sayin "look at me" and not runnin a track....there have been several potential buyers but the family will not sell the land nor will they give a lease for very long. it would take 500,000.00 just to get it race ready now.....

Longpine had it very briefly in the end unofficially and was going to do a lot of work on the track. But due to back taxes the track had and other problems the deal fell through. I don't about what happened at Enid but in no way was Longpine the cause of Tulsa's demise. It was several people before him with Bush being about the worst. That track was only built in 1985 and was very run down looking in the early 2000's.

he and colville were the cause of the downfall at enid

talking to the participants the way they did or allowing their staff to do it

announcing big money shows with a 2 or 3 week notice and expecting a 100 cars

changing pay scale down then up

just never quite got it right

dont wish either of them any bad, promoting race track just wasnt their thing
