Great to see people keep tracks going especially in these economical times.

The fact that they are not turning the track into a 1/3 or 3/8th mile track is very disappointing. We were looking forward to an action packed smaller track but will again travel the 79 miles one-way to Grand Forks on Friday nites. The Fargo fair board ought to spend the money, even if they don't have the money. Six classes of cars and they just get too strung out all over the place, even WoO heat races often stink up the place, though this year's feature was as exciting a race as I've ever seen---the exception. Think of a heat race of 8 mod-four cars or 8 street stock cars and all of a sudden after the green is thrown there is 200 yards between each car. 1/2 mile for local six-class stock car show not for me. But we can hope it works. A great looking facility!
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

I don't know how many of the NOSA sprint cars would run in Fargo on that big fast track and maybe the same for some of the cars that regularly run Sioux Falls and Knoxville At the smaller tracks, they damage a lot of equipment, but at the big one, there is always that danger factor. Just don't think many of them interested in running there weekly. It would be nice though and drop at least two of the other classes, which would be very very hard to do.

I think the interesting part about what Mr. Schatz is doing is he has committed to running on Wednesday nights and I'm surprised more of you haven't zeroed in on this.
Running Wednesday night should be interesting for car count, but more importantly...the FANS. Will they show up during the middle of the week? There's very little other sports activities to contend with. And if the program ends early, it just might work.
Unless there is several sprint teams close to Fargo, I don't think weekly sprint cars will be a good idea. If Mr. Schatz is counting on sprint cars showing up from out of town on a Wednesday night, it just isn't going to happen. If Mr. Schatz plans to run sprints, my feeble mind thinks that once a month or possibly a few special shows would be the way to go.
Disclaimer statement - I do not live anywhere near Fargo, ND, so there could be a lot more fan / racer support than I think there is. That factor would change my thoughts on this topic.

Running sprints in Fargo on a weekly basis probably won't happen, at least this year. If the track was smaller, I think you would see more guys try to do that. Not because of the fear factor, but because it's a big track where a lot of times the deepest pocket will win. We have a lot of low funded teams up here and a few high funded teams so I think the winner would probably be the same most of the time. Also, a lot of the NOSA guys actually run 360s so that might be an issue too. Who knows!
I think the NOSA series would run there if it were smaller so the 360s could compete. However, work the next day when you have to travel quite a ways would be an issue for some of the guys.

What did they finally decide on for classes? I'm sure in order for them to survive it's going to be the same Wissota fare that we're force fed at just about every track from eastern Wisconsin to Montana. Late Models, Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Street Stocks? I guess that weekly lineup is necessary to draw the Wissota crowd and keep these tracks open so we can enjoy our Sprint specials. It's a good thing you folks have Grand Forks up there. I made my first visit last summer and it's an awesome little track.

You might not be located in Fargo but if you're familiar with the racing up here it's Wissota sanctioned Stock Car and Modified country. They have to run those classes to get the support of the majority of local fans and racing teams. Last year they tore the asphalt off of I94 Speedway in Sauk Centre, a Friday track 130 miles from Fargo, and now they're tearing the asphalt off the other I94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, 59 miles from Fargo. They've got a track across the River just out of Moorhead called Buffalo River, another one up the road in Ada and River Cities up in Grand Forks. All those tracks run some combination of Wissota classes to fill the back gate with cars. Fargo used to run 360's weekly for a while but Wisstota got out of promoting Sprints. Fortunately for fans in that area they've got the NOSA Sprints or they wouldn't have any open wheel racing. Grand Forks weekly racing is pretty much confined to that area, teams from the Twin Cities, Jackson or Sioux Falls aren't going to run way up to Fargo or Grand Forks on a Wednesday night for a weekly purse. Just don't see them running Sprints weekly due to the logistics and cars being so spread out in this part of the country.
As Sprint Car fans we find that it's pretty hard to reason with people who think three Street Stocks side by side at 65 mph is more exciting than 24 Sprints coming down for the green. I haven't figured out if they're too closely related, if the fenders are like blinders or they can't see past those big old honkin' nose pieces they run.
