I'm cross-posting this from the main forum since I think a lot of people who primarily hang out here will be interested as well...
At his pre-race press conference at Homestead, Tony Stewart said
that he is "scaling back" the Tony Stewart Racing USAC program for
2010. According to Stewart, they are limiting their USAC program to one
sprint car and two Silver Crown cars. In addition, the team will no
longer field a midget program or run a USAC pavement sprint car.
Read more about Stewart's statement here,
along with what he said about the dismissal of Kraig Kinser from the
World of Outlaws team. The natural guess is that Levi Jones stays with
the team as the sprint car driver and also runs one of the two Silver
Crown cars. Where does this leave Tracy Hines? And who is going to run
the second Silver Crown car next season?
Things are getting very interesting (and maybe a tad depressing).

Well, the midgets haven't been seen for over two months, and the word at the Tulare USAC show was that Hines' last ride in the dirt car was taking place there. And Tracy wan't going to Turkey Night.
My thinking is that Chevy pulled a lot of their sponsorship $$$; Tony's always had good teams, especially when using OPM...Other People's Money!

Kind of like with Kraig Kinser being released, Tracy Hines being gone is not really that big of a shock, and like you said, the midget program had been sporadic at best. But I would have thought (naive) that they would have continued to field a second sprint car team in 2010.
And I would definitely be interested in seeing the current list of sponsors for TSR and if there are a few fairly major ones that are gone.
