Those who know me know that I don't do movies nor reality shows nor tv shows, it is all sports all the time. With this in mind, here is a brief story....
Back in 1981 I was just a pup (sophmore) at MWC and the basketball team played the Tulsa team with the Tisdale brothers in the finals. Of course we got slammed by Wayman and William, got to witness that in person at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. Impressive they were.
I have always been an avid OU fan so naturally the basketball team fell into that category as well. Wayman, under coach Billy Tubbs, helped put the program on national status. He then went to the NBA and done quiet well with the Suns and other teams.
Always a smile when you saw him, always good natured. Wish I would have met him in person.
After his passing, Toby Keith wrote and sings a song called "Crying for Me, Waymans Song" in tribute to "The Tiz." If you haven't heard this, it is totally awesome with a mix of country and Jazz.
Why am I posting this? Besides suggesting you should hear it, there is really no other reason why I am posting this. Just as there is no reason as to why I post some of the things that I do.
Now then, off to listen to samples on I-Tunes of Tisdales jazz work.
