Hello All,
After last nights race at Perris I had a question for Fans, Racers, and even promoters.
Do you you have to stay at a track for a given amount of time or until a certain time of night to feel as if you received your monies worth.
At Perris they could have had the program done by 9:00 or 9:30 at the latest but there was about an hour and fifteen minute delay before the main. The folks I was sitting near were all displeased with the long delay as was I so I thought I would find out what others think.
Thanks for the replies.

If a promoter hasn't figured out that some folks will not tolerate a 4 1/2 or 5 hour show, then they deserve what they get. Some fans will never return....even if it's a special event. While I am a big fan of any sprint car race, the show has to be "tight", with minimal delays...expecially those without reason.
If a promoter needs concession sales to increase his margins, he's really doing something wrong. I don't begrudge any promoter making a buck from concessions, but a 90 minutes intermission is just way too long!

I've always considered ANY time at the track a great time. Sounds like you had a little over an hour to talk with friends and take care of things so you wouldn't miss any of the feature.
Did they have a lot of things going on during the intermission? I know that we've had extended features on rare occasion because we had lots of things to get done during them or extra track prep to do.
A 3 1/2 hour show ain't all that bad on a Saturday night, especially if it's a big show like this one.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Since I am old school, spending time at the track has always been fun for me. I know when I had my sprinter we would get there early and leave late. Now most people want to come in for 3 hrs then run home.Thier attention span is very short these days.

To my knowledge the promoter at Perris receives nothing from the concessions. They are run by the "Southern California Fair". Also it was stated in the drivers meeting they all would have plenty of time to prep for the main.

I'm never in a hurry to leave the racetrack. Nice to have time to hit the rest room & consesions without worrying about missing any racing even if the lines are a little long.

This is worth saying again...."I've always considered ANY time at the track a great time. Sounds like you had a little over an hour to talk with friends and take care of things so you wouldn't miss any of the feature". This is worth another read as well. "I'd much rather be at any dirt track doing nothing than be at home wishing I was at a race".
