I was told there was a meeting 2 nites ago with longpine and the fairboard, does anyone know the outcome of that meeting? I would hope the Garfield County Fairboard would take a step back, give the concessions back to the track(like all the other tracks) and drop the lease back down to a reasonable rate. If the fairboard would do these 2 things it wouldnt matter if longpine wanted out because there would be several people wanting to promote that track.
If anyone knows if Enid is racing next year, please inform the rest of us.....
Thanks,
Jayson Ellis

I've heard rumour there's something in the works already for a new promoter.
I'd like to find out the next board meeting so we can get a group of racer's together and go listen to them explain away why they wouldn't give the concessions back.
These people are elected officials that should have the county's best interest. I don't think they realise how much of a disservice they are doing by not making this a better opportunity for growth to the area businesses let alone the county's profit margin.
They still have total control by having contract periods.

I agree
We should find out when the next fairboard meeting is and show up in droves....
I personally know of three people that would be interested in promoting the track if the fairboard would just be fair

They have offered it to a couple people for $109,000 and theres been no takes so far. The meeting is this Tuesday but was told it's a closed door meeting and you might find out something after the 11th.

I'm going to call Garfield Count office's next week and see if I can get a list of names on the board.
We could get allot of people to step up and go to a meeting, maybe that would open their minds a little to the subject.

The sad thing is this meeting is only about how much longpine owes the fairboard for giving up the track nothing about them keeping it. The fairboard wants money for lost food & drink sells.

Maybe theyll be happy when they close the track. Who wants a racetrack that they wont get the concessions money. Fairboard members dont give a shit is the problem. Wouldnt suprise me to see it sit next year. Sad deal. Great track but the county has ruined it for everyone.

Here is another way to approach it also, I believe that the county commissioners are part of the fair board and are elected officials. Lets get our own people in there with our votes. Let me know when we have a list of fairboard names and/or meeting dates. I want to help all i can with this...

What a sad sad thing, I pretty much grew up at enid and at SFS, My dad was the head scorer for enid for many years in the 80's and 90's every saturday night for as long as i could remember i went with him to enid and watched the races from the press box. Now both of my child hood home tracks are on the brink of going away.

wrench, that was some good racing back in the 80's! Always a near capacity crowd & plenty of cars in the pits.

Going to a meeting ' even if we could, since its a closed door meeting' would not and will not make a difference until there is new promoters at Enid. You can only tell drivers if they don't like it they can race somewhere else so many times before they do and have a tech guy who is going to let his buddies get away with anything they want and DQ everyone else. With Clinton racing every Saturday next year the car count at Enid is going to be even worse then it was this year if the promoters don't change.

wrench, I remember in '84, my 1st yr. in a late model, the Winternat's that year was a blast. I was in the 15th LM heat & won it. Started 15th in the A the next night & ran 5th! Man, what a rookie ride in that car! Only wish I had video of those years.

I have a video somewhere, from about 1990 or 91 of my uncle david up there and Jerry patterson runs off on the horse tracks and floors it getting back on the track and ramps back up on the track and got all 4 wheels about 3 feet or so off the ground.

I know exactly what you mean.
I started going to the races in 1976 at Enid Speedway. I was a young tike then but enjoyed it all the same. There are a many great memories at that track. My favorite memories from state fair speedway was when they still had that 1/2 mile racing. Wow, them boys would get some speed on that track.
