181 (1976, 4-bar house car) and 510 (originally reverse 4-bar, now standard). Have owned 328, 382, 495, 499, 516, 520, 530. 328 was a coil-over roadster and has been restored. The rest were destroyed in crashes. 499 was originally a Lee Nelson car, crashed, Bob put a coil front half on it for me. Only one I didn't like was 516, the evil twin of 510. Raced it 5 times, crashed four of them, killed it on the fourth try (RR wheel broke).

This is an '86 Trostle that resides in N. Nevada (Carson City) and the owner was a good friend of Bob's. Not sure of the S/N, but i can probably find out. Smile

Technically he never stopped. Officially shut down the West Des Moines shop and moved back to the home shop in about '95. He still builds and tinkers in the shop and in 07 or 08 built a spring front car for Bill Duesenbury. 530 was a 2001. Most of today's cars have the same pickup points and tube heights as the 1980 Vise Grip car that Kinser won the nationals in.

Just spoke with Bob and he thinks this car should be s/n 507 and may have been built for a Paul percel. built in nov 1995.

Question, in 30-40 years will the oldtimers then be exchanging information on what s/n's the XXX

chassis have? Are they even numbered? The s/n 533 chassis in the above pic is a true example of fine

USA engineering

and craftmanship. What is the history of serial number 1 or the 1st chassis built by Trostle? What year,

owners, drivers and does it still exist or restored? This is all interesting stuff, good subject.

Yes the first car is still around and was restored by Bob in about 1989. I will check with bob for sure next week but i believe the first car was built in 1961. Please keep the info coming and the questions.

that is funney stuff, some items just turn out to be "just a piece" huh ? I have wings that are on a death wish all the time , what the hell, fortunatly for me , some kinda like life on earth, lol , I guess , I wasnt aware Bob built cars up untill that recent, mid 90's ect? My understanding is Lee went through a really bad year , 499 must have been one of the bad apples? my guess is you purchased it crashed had it repaired and finished it off ? Interesting,

Now the comment on XXX , sure the chassis history is cool, I personally have a 05 JnJ(from what I understand) I still havent found the serial #?, but, the small print for attorneys behalf is welded on , Now I understand JNJ is built here in the red ,white, n blue, so ,what gives?, maybe somebody more familiar with JNJ 's can lead me in the correct direction? , the other three I have however, are Schnee's. the chassis# is there ,but risk warnings are not. newest being 07

with that in mind , this whole racing thing has come a long ways , its a buisness for some, understandable some of you hate it going global, but, theres a market for it, and everybody wants a piece of the" American Apple Pie" pardon the pun.

Dang, I guess if you don't have the original dash panel, your out of luck. frown On the beautiful car pictured with the spring front, what actually holds the spring onto the perch? I see one "peg" of sorts, but what fastens to the spring itself? I have to put a perch on a old car I have but don't really know how to build it or attach the spring to the perch.
